Yeah it's a ridiculous move for big money to churn non stop. At least they protecting the little people with PDT tho lol

does the new policy include something about PDT?

No, it was a comment about how PDT rules have the opposite of the intended effect, as people end up staying in positions longer than they should. It really hurts when doing short duration options due to theta.

There are way around PDT, either switch to an all cash account or use more than just one trading platform

I've been away from PDT for years, was just saying, the little guy keeps getting screwed.

protecting the little people preying on the little people, disguised as protecting.

Just wait until Assistant to the Regional POTUS Musk deletes the SEC completely.

u/AnotherThroneAway 25d ago

I'm sure that overblown crank whore will just try to be SEC chair himself, and delete it if he can't

Between this and Trump getting interested in and involved with crypto, its a race to the bottom at this point.

The traders being forced to stop is the only thing that puts a stop to everything else going on in the back and middle office.

This is a nightmare for the junior staff on those teams.

If this leads to round the clock trading are we going to have night shifts for finance jobs?

32

u/Gold_Accident1277 25d ago

Yeah pretty much created 3 jobs for every 1 person working in the stock market

3

u/Gold_Accident1277 25d ago

That’s if they all work 3/8. What a mess….

3

u/snek-jazz 25d ago

for the year or two before AI replaces them

6

u/FemtoKitten 25d ago

What jobs could easily be replaced by machine learning in finance was swiftly done in the 80s, it was one of the first fields where people of course applied it and other algorithmic trading options in the idea of making money. The consistent stream of information and feedback even from earlier times, with solid documentation, gave it a solid base to start with too. In the end you get some flash crashes occasionnelly and leveraged tools, but the major shifts on that front already happened.

3

u/CanaGUC 25d ago

That was already the case. There are people at those firms trading Europe/Asian market from the US, you know lol?

1

u/wesap12345 25d ago

Not at my place they don’t.

3

u/thenoblenacho 25d ago

Third shift "night trading" would see levels of cocaine use unknown since the 80s

2

u/4score-7 25d ago

Not to worry about that “junior staff”. There is a reason white collar jobs, specifically finance, have died since early 2023, while the rise of AI has seen billions poured into it….

When they said make America great again I didn’t think they were talking about the GREAT depression.
