READ BEFORE POSTING - New Rules
Rules
- Submissions must be related to Trip-Hop. It's not our intent to gatekeep what is or is not trip-hop, but submissions must be inspired by trip-hop or belong to related genres of music like downtempo
- Use the appropriate flair when applicable. If your playlist contains songs you made or are promoting, you MUST use the OC flair. The playlist flair is ONLY for songs that you are not promoting. Mixes are transformative and thus considered OC
- Self-promotion must follow guidelines (see below)
- Title must contain the artist and track name. Commentary is fine but low effort titles like "Nice beat" will be removed.
- Be respectful and follow Reddiquette
Self-promotion guidelines
- Must be trip-hop. Being "inspired" by trip-hop is not enough. Unfortunately we need to be more strict than with the general submissions rules to prevent spam.
- Must use the Original Content flair
- Maximum one submission per week
- Complete song submissions only. We are not a content creator subreddit. If you would like feedback on work-in-progress songs, there are other subs for that.
- While we welcome OC that fits the rules, announcement videos and text posts containing links other than the song you are sharing will be removed. The mods also reserve the right to remove low quality/low effort submissions.
- Submissions considered self-promotion include, but are not limited to:
- Original songs
- Original mixes
- Covers and remixes
- Playlists containing songs you made or are promoting
- Follow Reddit's sitewide guidelines for self-promotion.
If you see any rule breaking posts or comments please report it. It will get dealt with much more quickly.
Rules Changes
- 10/18/2021: Added details to rule 2 to make it more clear what flair should be used.
- 01/21/2022: Added clarification that mixes must be tagged as OC.
- 04/17/2022: Added new self-promotion guidelines.

song help
hello wondering if there are any trip hop producers that are willing to share a track that i could write lyrics and sing over. been trying to produce one myself (garageband user btw) but never really happy with the end results. trying to go for a gloomy, 90s massive attack kind of sound for it so if anyone wants to discuss something i’d appreciate it :P or if anyone could give any tips for making a song like that i would also really like that!

Request/Discussion DJ Shadow: Midnight In A Perfect World/Climbing Up the Walls (feat. ?Richard Ashcroft?)
I was going through old files and found a wonderful version of DJ Shadow's Midnight In A Perfect World, BUT it is a mashup with Richard Ashcroft (at least it certainly seems like it is and not Thom Yorke's voice pitched +/-) singing Climbing Up the Walls.
Edit: I uploaded it to YouTube HERE let's see how long it lasts!
The metadata on the track doesn't tell me anything and has album art from "Live! In Tune and On Time", which the track is not from to the best of my knowledge.
I've only come across the track one other time in the wild at a Media Exchange shop years ago.
Does anyone know where this beautiful gem comes from!?
Please and thank you :-)
P.S.
Sorry no link as I can't find it online...

Request/Discussion Other songs like this?
Hi! This past year i’ve been obsessed with the song Exit Wound by Mixhell (featuring greg puciato). It’s got kind of a trip-hop/nine inch nails/industrial vibe. I’ve overplayed it a lot but haven’t been able to find other songs with the same vibe. Anyone have any suggestions?

Request/Discussion Hello! I'm looking for trip-hop BGM I can use in my videos. Y'all got any recommendations?
Title. Hello! So I'm currently producing some videos as part of a vlog and I really want to find trip hop-styled tracks to use as background music. I've tried searching online but most of the stuff I find is either "No Copyright Free Royalty Free Music 2024" trash or just not trip hop at all.
Since you guys know the stuff, where can I find good trip hop BGM for my videos? I ideally want some nice beats that are reminiscent of Ian Pooley's Spicy Snapper (I'm not sure if this is classified as trip hop, but it's a nice track) or really anything that's trip-hoppy and has that nice jazzy, funky flair. Oh and since I'll be using them as BGM they shouldn't land me in copyright hot water with a record label or YouTube's content ID system and all that...
(and yes you can show me your own beats as well I wouldn't mind as long as it's nice, jazzy and funky)
so please send me in some good bgm!! thank you :D

London Grammar - Metal & Dust
Having a discussion about the genre of this song, struggling to pigeon hole it, not sure if I would completely classify it as trip-hop, but wondering what everyone thinks?
