I haven’t done this since before the pandemic but what you’re describing is doable but a big hassle. It’s nowhere near as convenient as commuting between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Another issue to consider is how strong your passport is. The border control will have standing policies to give elevated scrutiny for certain countries. It would make the back and forth not worth it imho.

I agree it's a hassle, because the border crossing takes 1-2hrs in general. Not sure where you are getting that info on standing policies to give scrutiny to certain countries...

Yeah I should clarify the bit about extra scrutiny is based purely on observations from more border crossings than I can count and not so subtle hints from border officials.
