Not a guarantee, but definitely a possibility. Gas fumes can collect in the hull around the engine and ignite when the engine starts. All boats like this have a blower fan to run before you start the engine to mitigate that risk.
It makes sense but it's like, maybe that should just be incorporated into the ignition process. Like it won't turn over until a blowing has been performed or something.
Based on the number of times I've left something sitting on the roof of my car and driven away I would definitely die in a fiery boat explosion.
If the blower goes out, you can still manually air it out. But if it the ignition is tied to the blower and the blower fails, you aren't going anywhere.
That latter situation might be less than ideal if say you sailed out to some remote location.
Humans put a multimillion dollar, high precision instrumentation the size of a Volkswagen in a 500 yard radius patch on mars. I’m pretty sure something could be engineered up.
