Cat teeth care 15

I have a vet appointment soon but I want to gather some info from yall so I can make sure to ask all the right questions/ask for all possible solutions to the vet. My cat has something that looks like peridontal disease and his breath is starting to stink more than before. Vet said we can't do anything to put him under and clean his teeth because he has a grade 2 heart murmur and kidney issues. Does anyones cat have issues like him and found a way to make his teeth/gum get better?
