San Diego police non-emergency is a joke

Today I woke up to a car blocking the drive way I was in and had to goto work. Called 3 different towing companies all said need to call police since it’s public street. Then I called the non emergency hotline and cops never showed up . I guess people can get away with parking where ever on the street .

What? If they don’t respond to non emergencies rapidly, you’re worried about the speed they respond to emergencies with? Emergencies are treated as emergencies and the response is immediate. Non emergencies are treated as non emergencies and there will be a delay in the response.

There's been a problem with people calling 911 (pocket dials) and other issues that they have to call back and or respond too.

that ties things up.

Conversely, In all fairness, I've had an actual emergency and had a quick response from both the line and an ambulance so "it depends".

I've also personally had to wait for quite a while on the non-emergency line before too.
The system can get flooded and there's a priority list for allocating resources.

The OP with a parked car blocking a driveway is low on the list and that usually self resolves on it's own (it's usually a person coming back from the bars late at night) they move it by the afternoon. In this case, it would have been smart to leave the driver a note asking for the compensation for the uber they'll have to take to get to work and back.

That's fair and saves the cars owner from a tow and impound charge. it would be my first thought vs calling different tow companies and wasting time.
