hit a distance pr out of nowhere today and i’m so proud of myself

my last pr was 4 miles and today i ran along with the first long run on the nike app and beyond. my watch and nike app were mismatched in distance so i kept rationalizing making it to the next mile and then i got to 9 and needed an even number since i was already there 😭

i started running over the summer this year after only weightlifting and miscellaneous cardio workouts, completing my first 5k after a couple weeks of getting into it but then i fell off when the school year started and def gained some weight. now that im on break, its been about a week using the nike app and it’s reshaped my idea of running w the guided runs, i seriously love it and im so happy i ended 2024 with a huge milestone and im excited to see what 2025 holds!

also im really scared for the recovery of this run, my legs felt so sore after but i took a quick shower, long bath, some carbs and electrolytes, and water and i stretched. does anyone have tips on how to recover if i wake up feeling incredibly sore tomorrow? (send prayers)

l've created a club on Strava with the goal to reach 365 miles by the end of 2025. This was my first year running and I wanted to build on it whilst creating a difficult but achievable goal to encourage consistency. Everyone is welcome, let's get there one day at a time!

Want to join this Strava club? https://strava.app.link/RdWBBWoSDPb

Abdomen pain while running.

i've been running on and off since last year, but the one thing that has been constant is pain in my abdomen.

i only get this whenever i consume ANYTHING, may it be a cup of coffee, a banana, piece of bread, then usually the left side of my abdomen starts aching.

I try to energize myself for the run, however i can't run more than 3 kilometers.

Any thoughts/help?

Found a song I could run to. Last 3/4 of the second mile was terrible but wanted to test it out. Think the pace was acceptable. Now I got to figure out how to extend it over miles 😭

Any recommendations for 3 inch men’s shorts that are appropriate for slim runners ? Have tried a few off Amazon and find them too baggy.

I have a goal of running a sub 19min 5k by spring or summer, and I do not plan on letting any holidays hinder my progress.

Walk run helped me go longer. Never ran for an hour in my life. Crazy to me I could be on my feet for that long in one clip.

Considering Gel Cumulus 25 as an overweight, mildly overpronative runner

I'm 215 lbs, I do overpronate a little. Currently using Kayano 30 for over 800 kms and they're showing signs of wearing out. My training load isn't much yet, about 20-30km a week.

I see Gel Cumulus 25 is on a massive discount, almost 60% off in India. Should I go for it considering my wait and pronation nature?

I'm training for a half marathon starting January.

My circuit workouts is

7 sets of 750m-1km run 25-40 pushups or 7-8 pull ups

This helps me maintain adequate muscle mass and enjoy running also without eating too much.

I have also brought my friends into this routine and they are also enjoying it.

How many 5ks should I run before running a 5k?

Hello! I want to get into running long distance, i’m not in the best running shape so i’m starting from 0. I want to eventually run my first marathon, however, the way i am i want to end my first with a really good finishing time. How many 5ks would i need to run before moving on to a 10k, then moving onto half marathon then finishing with the full marathon before i’m ready? Sorry if this feels like silly question but i want to set a realistic timeframe for when i’d be ready. Thank you

Absolutely amazed by my progress from one year of running! Early this year I would run one mile, walking on and off, and in November I finished my first half marathon (2:30:10)!! I couldn’t even finish a 5k in high school and I have my late friend Carson to thank for his motivation as I do a lot of this for me and in his memory!!

2025 will be the year I run my first full! All this to say, If you’re not sure you’ll get there, I wasn’t either and I’m so proud of myself!

Couple comments pointed out my peace was too slow. Ran for 30 mins this time to BPM music to help with pacing. But you can’t tell me all those songs in the playlist are the same bpm 😂

Help on Running routien

Im pretty athlethic and just recently stopped playing soccer cuase its not going anywhere, but i have good stamina and can run etc.. i just want to maximize my health, testosterone, cardiovascular system, and reap all the benefits from running in general without harming my knees or cartilage, with the least amount of drawbacks. I know sprinting is probably not good for you're knees but i heard its good for testostrone.

Can anybody rate this:

2x Weekly Sprint + Short-Distance Workouts (Combined):

  • Example:
    • Warm-up: 5–10 minutes jogging and mobility.
    • 6x100m sprints at max effort (rest 60–90 seconds between).
    • 2x400m at 75–85% effort (rest 2 minutes between).
    • Cool-down: 5 minutes jogging and stretching.

1–2x Weekly Medium-Distance Runs (2–3 miles):

  • Run at a conversational pace (60–70% max effort).

1x Weekly Long-Distance Run (4–6 miles):

  • Maintain an easy pace (50–60% effort)

Running the day before sprinting. How hard should I go?

I sprint twice a week and lift twice a week for track. Track is my top priority but I want to be able to hit tempo runs and good base runs regularily. Often I'd have to squeeze it in the day before sprinting (like today). How hard should I push so that I can get two good workouts (not compromising either)?
