Needs Rehoming 🐾 i need to rehome my boy

my living situation doesn’t allow me to keep my baby. in the meantime he is safe and has everything he needs, but i’ve bought all the time i can to find him a new home. i’ve even resorted to looking at shelters in the immediate and surrounded areas, and they are all either full or don’t take pets from outside of their jurisdictions.

he is a beautiful soul, a 1.5y neutered male tux named Oscar. he would do best in a single-pet household without children, or even better as a ranch/large acreage cat- he has a high prey drive and loves the sunshine and getting dirty, despite my best efforts to keep his formalwear clean and pressed.

if you live in the inland empire and inland valley areas of southern california and may be able to take him, please contact me through my direct messages to discuss details. i am willing and able to bring him to you if you live around these areas.

If you are willing to ship him to Wisconsin, I can take him. I have cats, but I have experience introducing new cats to the household.

Otherwise, try reaching out to the rescues that usually help with the Devore shelter: Kitt Crusaders, BAR, etc. Reach out to the mods for the full list.

Do you anticipate your living situation will change? Perhaps one of the rescues will foster him until your situation changes and you can take him back.

thank you so much, i appreciate your kindness more than words can say. would it be okay to bear you in mind, in case i can’t find someone within driving distance of me? i’ve never shipped an animal before and wouldn’t be sure how to go about it.

thank you for the resources! <3

unfortunately i’m out of work right now with an injury, but im on the hunt for a new job. in the meantime though my future is very uncertain, and poor oscar has been waiting on me to sort things out for months. it’s just time for him to have a better shot at life, he’s a pure soul and deserves the world.

Did you ever find Oscar a home, or did circumstances change so you could keep him?

thank you for asking. my boy is still with me, the search is sort of on hold due to an urgent family situation

Oh no! Well I hope both the family situation and your situation improves soon, and that it allows Oscar to be able to stay with you. ❤️

If you just need help providing for him (food, litter, etc.) try reaching out to local rescues and the Humane Society - they often have help available to help keep pets in their home, which is the best option. You can also contact the mods and see if they’ll allow you to request donations.

Honestly, the best outcome for Oscar is staying with you - the person he knows and loves - but if that’s really not an option, try to find a no-kill shelter that has room. You can keep me in mind as a backup, but it’s going to be costly getting him here.

People have used Southwest Airlines to fly cats, I think it’s $125 but the cat has to be in good health and no behavior issues. Otherwise there’s pet transport companies, but that gets REALLY expensive.

i would sooner say reach out to a rescue to help with transport than ship him. Youre normally not allowed to ship animals; it isn’t safe for them

I am so sorry you are going through this - if nothing works out please DM me and I would be happy to discuss options for transport to the NorthEast if he is happy with other cats.

I can help transport, would need the gas cost paid but won't charge other than that to help. I live near the Missouri/Kansas border and could meet someone near this area, if they can get them from CA to me, then I can get the cat a couple of states over closer to WI. Just offering help. I'm a life long cat owner w experience traveling w cats.

Be sure to get a legit vet reference before handing him over. People act nice when they really aren't. Also please charge a fee. Free animals have little value.

thank you for your advice <3 i’ll be sure to do both

I am so sorry you have to give up your baby. I had to give 3 of my cats to a rescue, another to a friend of a friend, and all I could keep was my feral as he would never adjust to anyone else. My kids and I had to go into a shelter apartment when we left kids' father. I still think about them every day, but they probably all passed by now. There's a site you can put him on, and people nearby email you.

Good luck, he's beautiful! 🩷🧡🙏🤞

i’m so sorry for what you went through. no matter how hard it is, i find comfort in my belief that everything happens the way it’s supposed to.

thank you for the resources and the good wishes <3

Thank you. We were lucky we could keep even one. We lucked out that the shelter we ended up in were apartments in houses and apartment buildings so one family didn't like him so we kept him in our bedroom the next family loved him so we let him out. I found a beautiful kitten we tried to keep that I found, but I got caught and put him on that site. He was adopted in a day. I know how hard it is. Your boy is gorgeous, and I am sure will be adopted quickly! 🧡🩷

Not a fan of other cats? Aww Oscar... I would love to have this boy, but I can only offer an inside home with 2 other kitties and a dog. I hope he's able to find his forever home with exactly what he needs ❤️
