Mary is such a freak and no one talks about it???? Like fr what tf is wrong with her she’s not real- especially rewatching like she’s genuinely so obtuse. Is she like autistic or something she has absolutely no social awareness and she behaves in SUCH a way- like her ig posts look like boomers random tiktok videos that go viral because they’re senile- why doesn’t anyone talk about Mary? This bitch married her STEP GRANDFATHER to inherit her family wealth?! I feel so bad for her son..

For me, I’d enjoy Mary if she weren’t absurdly ignorant and racist. But people skim right past that and collectively fawn over her “realness.”

Hello! I am Black woman, 53 who has watched from Day 1. These are things referred to:

Mary talked about avoiding going to 7-11 as it is guilty having too many Black guys/people hanging out ( and I can’t remember if she outright said it or not but she felt they were there to jerk her purse).

She referred to an Asian cast member’s “slanty eyes” and exotic beauty, thinking she was complimenting her.

She also said she’s not attracted to Black men but her husband doesn’t count because he’s apparently white (he’s Black). She defo gives colourist energy.

Right. When Mary first met Jennie, she complimented her “slanted eyes” and said she liked them. Okay, that’s pretty simple-minded but it’s coming from an alright place. I can forgive.

But it’s when she started mimicking her accent in a cruel manner and asking Jennie repeatedly if she “understood” what was being said - that’s when Mary crossed the line into revealing herself to be hateful.

Mary is a walking talking bundle of conservative church bias. She has been raised in that Pentecostal super strict, very misogynistic and … that kind of ugly bias that just paints everyone who is not them as wrong.

That combined with her experiences with her mother and grandmother? She has been programmed for really awful things.
