Picture Rallycross is for sure the best first competition
It's nice to see this community!
If you're thinking about competing in motorsports for the first time, but not sure what type of competition to start with - autocross, time-attack, rally cross, go-karting, etc. - here are my 2 cents.
Rallycross is for sure the best type of motorsport competition to start with.
Wide variety of surfaces force drivers to learn great car control from the get-go.
You don't need an expensive car to get going.
Short tracks force drivers to be perfect and give their absolute best, because one mistake will cost you a lot.
From experience, I find that starting a rallycross run can be more stressful (in a good way) than starting a real rally stage, because on a rally stage you can always make up for mistakes later - this makes rallycross a great psychological training for any competition.
Events can run in any season.
Driving skills will help in challenging driving situations in real life.
Rallycross is pretty safe because the speeds are low, but still super fun because the surface is slippery and uneven.
Community and comradery is usually great!
Find your local RallyX and have a blast!

I agree. I’ve done Rallycross, autocross, and track days and I enjoy Rallycross the most. Loose surface driving makes it so much more fun.
I also find that people at Rallycross are more fun to hang out with. Autocross and track guys tend to spend way more on their cars, take it too seriously, and are not nearly as willing to share setup tips with new people.
