UPDATE: The Halal Map is complete…for now

Hi Map Guy here and now with snazzy logo,

After nearly 200 comments & emails from my posts, here is the Halal Cart Map

Currently on an all-nighter since I picked someone up from the airport. I went through all your comments and emails you sent me about your halal carts in Philly and we now have near 60 halal carts mapped out of the 600 recommended food spots in total!!

Thanks for all the help and support very glad we got this result with everyone’s suggestions.

Specifically, moving the email recommending form below the map & having the street names/numbers visible.

Sadly some recommendations I can’t complete such as having the carts hours and schedule posted. That’d take going to every cart and the truth is they are not consistent enough where I wouldn’t want to mislead anyone.

Thanks again

I think the house next to mine might be getting demolished without a permit. Who can I call?

Upvotes

It’s suspicious to me that even though the house is completely gutted, floors and all, you’d never know from the exterior. The curtains on the front are drawn tight and they’re leaving all the debris in a 6+ foot high pile in the backyard. From my yard I can see the whole empty frame of the structure.

Not trying to tattle but I share a wall with this house and I’m getting paranoid about those horror stories of places collapsing.

Thanks!

Question? Good Golf Instructors in the Area?

Hey there everyone.

Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but am looking at taking some golf lessons this offseason and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of an instructor they’ve had a positive experience with.

I’m by no means a great golfer (22 handicap) but would like to begin working on my game a little more.

Thanks in advance!

Stallone lent Philly his personal statue for the month of December to honor the movie Rocky’s 48th anniversary debut. I hear it will be a removed January 3. I went out and got a few photos this morning.

I assume the big boom I just heard was electric related, since my UPS just clicked.

Question? Where can I volunteer to deliver food to the hungry?

I’m looking for a driving/walking opportunity to take food to the hungry in Philadelphia.

I do not want to prepare the food, but I’d like to help deliver it.

Does anyone have a lead on a volunteer program where I can do this? I’m thinking one afternoon a month or so.

Hat Repair Recommendations

Does anyone have a good recommendation on where I can get a leather strap for my hat replaced? It’s an old ball cap that I’ve had for years and the leather adjustment strap on the back broke. I’m not sure if I can just bring it to a cleaners/tailor. Or are there any clothing shops that can do the repair? Thanks.

Question? Rowhome owners with cats, how many mice do you find in your house during the winter?

This is for anyone that has a decent mouser, anyone who has traps, or anyone that sees them visually.

Our cat has caught 3 in the past week and this feels like a pretty big jump from previous years where we might see that many in a month or even a season.

I understand that mice occupy our city in greater numbers than human residents, and they are just a fact of living in a city, so I'm curious to see how many other people are dealing with this too.

Those making good use of the growing space on roof decks - what works best? Veggie? Fruit trees? Plants? Any tips or tricks? Bring things in for winter?

Statement on their Web site.

Vicinity Energy says the issue was a neighbor's water service pipe coming into contact with their hot steam pipe. So there's some kind of temporary fix in place for now.
