Question Why is my Right RAM Stick Red?

Post image

I had solid color red for a few days on signal rgb, is it a potential burn in maybe?

Likely a faulty blue light. That would make purple/magenta turn red. Try setting it to just blue

I had a corsair h110i aio in my computer. Absolutely pissed me off if I set my color to white, the actual heat sink rgb was more of a warm white/yellow. I would have to manual adjust it to now of a blue to achieve a more white appearance

Or just turn the rgb off, or face the glass towards a wall

You can find the g-skill app for rgb control or try to re-apply your lighting profile, I had the same issues, should get the job done

I have trident z5 neo and mine as well with faulty blue led

2

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

Is it the top leds that are faulty?

1

u/Ok-Cash-5100 1d ago

Looks like it. Mine in the center

2

u/SnaggleWaggleBench 1d ago

The blue LEDs in that part are probably dead. You can check by setting solid red, then solid green, then solid blue and check for gaps to see which LEDs are gone.

2

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

Everyone saying that blue led maybe died so im assuming its that

1

u/dangderr 1d ago

Looks like it got infected by a virus. Good thing it hasnā€™t spread to the other ram stick yet.

1

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

RGB comes with good antiviruses

1

u/Izan_TM r7 7800X3D RX 7900XT 64gb DDR5 6000 1d ago

there's 2 dead blue LEDs in that module I'd guess

1

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

Yeah cuz most of the stick is fine

It is, I fear.

1

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

Well her ass ainā€™t ready for round two let her come

1

u/igotshadowbaned 1d ago

The B in RGB stands for blue. The blue led in that bit died. If you change it to pure blue that section of strip will probably just be off. Every color that uses the blue LED will look a bit off there

1

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

Iā€™ll try it tomorrow

u/LadBooboo 5900x|3080Ti|32GB 1d ago

Welcome to the "Dead blue led" club.

1

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

Anything else I should know before entering this club?

1

u/LadBooboo 5900x|3080Ti|32GB 1d ago

The only prerequisite is having an RGB/aRGB component with dead blue LEDs, it's actually pretty common. It's not "if" a blue LED will die, it's more of a "when" it'll die.

If itā€™s Corsair Iā€™ve had this issue with their fans. One portion will be a different colour for a while and then eventually change. Like other people have suggested, a faulty light.

1

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

Itā€™s the G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB

u/SlimLacy 5950X | 69(nice)00 XT 1d ago

One of your blue LED's have left the realms of mortals.

Blue LED's lifespan are just shorter.
I have a keyboard that is fully RGB, and about 10 different keys have lost the blue LED.

1

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

I didnā€™t know they weā€™re shorter, thanks.

1

u/SlimLacy 5950X | 69(nice)00 XT 1d ago

I think technically they shouldn't, but it's just very apparent that blue LEDs tend to be the first to die in an RGB house.

1

u/scuba_scouse 1d ago

It hasn't fully downloaded yet.

And nothing to worry about it's just getting ready for a hyper jump

If you're using SignalRGB or another lighting control software, it could mean that the light isn't being detected properly.

1

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

Using SignalRGB

1

u/MrSpicyhedgehog i5-13400F | RTX 3070 | 32GB RAM | 4TB SSD 1d ago

Then the software is having issues with your RAM stick. I'd double check that it's showing up on your layout and you have the part set up correctly in SignalRGB.

When it happens to me it usually goes away after I restart fwiw.

1

u/ViciousDredd 1d ago

Its a she and shes on her days obviously

0

u/Positive-Score 1d ago

It is RGB Ram, it can have multiple colors.

Just use the proper Software to set it up.

Probably this

1

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

Im gonna try maybe fixing it tomorrow or leave the rgb profile as solid red, cuz I like that.

1

u/JonaCoolPants2112 RTX 3080 5600x PBO 32gb 3200cl16 1d ago

Nvm I got downvoted to shi probably not this then

Its going to blow up, early signs of a RAM Explosion, You need to quickly shut off the PC and immediately take out the RAM stick. Once done, set the RAM stick in an area that is at least 28 Metres away from the nearest person and call your local bomb squad... /s

1

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

Do I need to get vaccinated too?

I lost the plot, idk where i was tryna go with this

u/ATFGunr 1d ago

My lighting gets mixed up sometimes too, nothing a good restart wonā€™t sort out. GPU lighting sometimes needs a full shut down, including the power button on the PSU. Thereā€™s various softwares running and sometimes they donā€™t play nice together.

2

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

Yeah SignalRGB doesnā€™t like other rgb software

u/AnonymousFire1337 1d ago

Well I wasnā€™t really sure what the issue was exactly I referred to it like OLED burn in like if u leave an image on for an extended period of time it will stay like that or at least still be slightly visible.
