Just to explain what happens. If you stun a boss during such a phase it bugs out and just doesn't stop, causing shit like this to happen.
3
u/After-Decision-6402 1d ago
Pretty sure that’s any skill a boss uses if you like wolf man in act1 stun him during his ice beams and you’ll still get remaining ones after stun done

u/JohnScottDanSteve 1d ago
I had this problem on a couple attempts.

u/OnceMoreAndAgain 1d ago
Looks like OP stunned the boss at the same moment the boss was meant to end their channeling of the wind. I wonder if the boss is bugged to not end that wind channel when stunned since they cannot take any actions while stunned.

u/KatzOfficial 1d ago
Checks out, there was a similar bug with breach boss getting stunned during hands phase and just dropping infinite hands.
3
u/Effective_Shirt6660 Tormented Smugler 1d ago
That has to feel brutal, I feel like only a spell caster has a chance of finishing that fight, I would just take the L
5
u/KatzOfficial 1d ago
Cc like electrocute function the same way as stun.
2
u/Effective_Shirt6660 Tormented Smugler 1d ago
I mean as in. After the glitch starts with infinite hands, it would be hard to reload your crossbow, or get off a melee attack, or anything like that if you're constantly dodge rolling to avoid getting hit, it seems that casters have pretty solid cast speed that late in the game they can probably get an attack off mid-roll
0
u/TonsOfPizza 1d ago
My crossbow reload is near instant I don't see how it would stop me from kiting

u/Bornforexile Trickster 1d ago
The molten boss with lava, the first time I was able to kill him I stunned him mid cast of his fire waves and he just walked the rest of the way down, no fire waves, no abilities, just walked from top to bottom while I dps'd him
1
u/WebPrimary2848 1d ago
It's this. It's not even really about the precise timing of the stun either, if he gets heavy stunned during that wind at all it'll last longer than the shield does. Took me ~5 attempts to kill him on a gas arrow alt because I kept stunning him trying to kill the crawlers
7
u/Bcp_or_pcB 1d ago
I died while in the shield and yelled YO WTF IM IN THE SHIELD like 3 times during this fight and never realized this might’ve been what was happening lol it 99.999% 100% was exactly what happened to me 😂

"Oh, you're one of those Exile that isn't playing with a strategy guide? Ugh, fine, I'll kill the boss myself this is taking forever it's Christmas."

u/StoneLich 1d ago
I've felt way more comfortable making my own builds in 2 than I ever did 1. The game is definitely overtuned in places, and there's a definite lack of complexity in crafting compared to the first game, but it also feels way more accessible in terms of actually picking things up and experimenting.
(Sorry for the unsolicited opining; just feel like I'm losing my mind a little bit reading some of the posts on this subreddit and seeing how much they differ from my own experience. By contrast I've got like 2.5k hours in PoE 1 and of that I think maybe 2 hours were spent with a build I made myself.)

The tree is way more focused so it’s harder to go wrong I think.
Or at least my home brew warrior is doing way better than expected.

u/Valuable_Parsley420 1d ago
You gotta be joking surely? If you randomly picked something that’s viable for endgame maybe I could see that but so many people are going to pick shit skills and run into a brick wall. In Poe 1 with enough currency you could make any build work. In 2 there’s around 5 to 6 builds that work through to end game.
11
u/StoneLich 1d ago
I'm not joking. PoE2 feels a lot more experimentation-friendly than 1 does, especially in campaign. Things feel significantly more intuitive. And part of why there are fewer builds overall atm (keeping in mind that over half the skillgems and supports aren't in the game yet) is that builds are more likely to actually incorporate more than one major active skill, which makes them a lot more forgiving imo.
Also, like, you're saying that in PoE1 you can make any build work "with enough currency," but you're kind of leaving out, imo, that with most of those builds you won't be able to use them at all until you've already got most of the gear bought, and in most cases the build will require like a hundred divines just to get off the ground. If you tried running most builds through campaign you'd hit a brick wall, and when that happens the most common advice you get to 'fix' it is to reroll into another build until you've got that currency ready.
Like tbc, I love PoE1, I've got 2.5k hours in it and I'm planning to jump between the two games as leagues come out, but I do feel significantly more able to try things out 'safely' in 2 than I do in 1.
2
u/Hamudra 1d ago
Honestly, not judging or anything, but I've noticed that people are talking about completely different things when talking about PoE2.
It's like 50/50 people that talk about the game during campaign, and people that talk about the game after the campaign.
So I think you, and the guy you responded to, are talking about different parts of the game

u/BirdTurglere 1d ago
I actually died on him and left the game running to see if she’d actually damage him enough to just slow grind him down. Went and made dinner and ate for an hour or two. Maybe did like 0.05% damage at best. It’d take days. If ever? Plus I think she’s unconscious on the second stage.
11
u/Furycrab 1d ago
I found out Asala can stay stuck outside the boss arena. Died the same way.
3
u/Fart_Python 1d ago
Same happened to me she got stuck behind those railings that pop up when you enter
2
u/Draygoon2818 1d ago
That happened to me. I just barely entered the boss area before turning around to check something with my skills. The boss started up so I had to click to enter the area. Didn’t even notice she was outside the area till the sandstorm started.
11
u/StraightsJacket 1d ago
You can bug out Mektul(The Molten Vault) boss the same-ish way.
If you stun him during a phase where he walks into the gold river he'll stop attacking and just walk towards you.
3
u/lunch0guy 1d ago
I didn't have enough dps to kill him while also dodging in act 3, so this bug was the only way I was able to win. Still only had about 1.5 metres of room left when he died.
2
u/Beliriel 1d ago
I don't like Mektul for that reason. It's just a stat check. His mechanic are fun but if you don't have enough DPS you can just not do him. Every other boss has bs too but if you play well you can play around it. Even Napuatzi, yes on the smallest arena size it gets preeeetty hard to dodge the Chaos explosions and spears but she's not technically timed. Mektul is. I really don't like that. "Come back when you're overleveled and broken" doesn't sound like cool design to me. But having to constantly walk down a path while fighting him is pretty cool ngl.

1.3k life, what did you expect
walked into clearly telegraphed aoe, stop complaining
should have used dodge roll, its there for a reason
9999999th time I am seeing this same issue posted, can mods moderate?
feedback is fine, but this is getting toxic

I think the bug is actually the storm not stopping, not her stop shielding prematurely.
2
2
u/ydziros 1d ago
Wait, she's supposed to shield you? Done this fight on 2 characters, both died ~2 times to this attack nearly instantly, had to straight up outdps to skip to phase 2.

u/Ekkzzo 1d ago edited 1d ago
Yup
You can slightly see the sand bend around asala, but it's a really subtle visual effect. They really need to turn the visual communication up a ton in poe2. I mean, besides stuff like this there's also barely visible on death effects and some people even thought that mod tier info on items was no longer in the game, because the font is so faint most people don't perceive it unless they know where it's supposed to be.

Being colorblind, there are literally enemies I can't see in the heavily wooded maps.

That shit happened to me the first two times I fought the boss. I thought I was doing something wrong. I asked global about it and people said stay behind her shield and was like yeah she fucking bailed on me lol

u/Roborabbit37 1d ago
Same happened with me with the Colossus boss, stunned him during the phase he moves and shoots the beams along floor. He got stalled in the animation, kept firing infinite invisible projectiles until I died
1
u/Outrageous--Alfalfa 1d ago
Its just like when he does his arrow, you roll away, he's facing the opposite direction, but his projectile still comes at you while he's not even looking at you, nor is the projectile pointed at you

had this problem I found out just go to the opposite side the sand is blowing ... so in this case the right side ...and it will stop or reduce the damage you take...enough for flask to heal you.

u/TheChrono 1d ago
Just spent about 20-30 mins on this boss knowing almost 100% sure I was going to die at about 10-5% and then alt F4 and never open this fucking game until it’s playable.
And that’s 100% what happened. Ran out of a mana flask at about 30-40%. The right was complete bullshit spamming one move.

u/WonWetSock 1d ago
RIP, I have died prob 5x, trying to help people with their campaign during that fight to a similar glitch.
She gets stuck on the walls outside and never enters.
All we are is dust in the wind.

u/blueruneart Witch 1d ago
That happened to me on my first fight and I was so confused on what to do lol then I spent like 5 more tries avoiding her

If you get frozen while activating a lever you need to relog. Once you complete the animation you can't do anything other than move until you do so. Animation bugs are plentiful but they'll iron them out.

u/NekomancerH 20h ago
The same just happened to me in the bronze citadel, for some reason Asala had the rare modifier that teleports rare mobs creating a smoke cloud, she did that and I was left dying :)
1
u/AkaxJenkins 18h ago
the visual clarity of her shield needs to be improved, specially when she does it the other way
1
u/Kage_noir 18h ago
She was never your friend exile , you’ve learnt a valuable lesson! What did you think it was when she was like “you have your orders “ and you don’t work for her or get paid ?
1
u/caiocezart 14h ago
One of my tries on cruel, Asala didn’t get into the arena before the gates closed. I was just waiting for the inevitable death and that indeed happened

No. You eletocuted the boss. Which means that his sand phase will continue even after it is supposed to end (this is a bug).
But then Asala stops shielding when his sand phase is supposed to end. So... you die because you eletrocuted the boss.
5
u/LBDragon Elementalist 1d ago
That's. The. Point. You said it yourself, it's a bug, it shouldn't happen...and yet it's been a bug since PoE 1 Zana.
2
u/Sequoiathrone728 1d ago
No what? That’s the bug, yes. What are you disagreeing with?
0
u/D_4rch4ng3l 1d ago
What I mean is that Asala is not bugged. The boss is.
2
u/Sequoiathrone728 23h ago
OP didn’t specify that it’s Asala that’s bugged. It was just a funny title, he doesn’t think the NPC actually made the decision to let him die.

i think you died to burning ground, not to the boss mechanic
you were shocked when you walked on it, and i suspect your fire res wasnt particularly high either.
