Really hope this catches on and goes mainstream as one of the defining moments of the debate, it's such a nakedly pathetic moment for Vance and also comes across as whiny

"Um, I was told that my lies wouldn't be challenged."

He's such a dweeb.

How dare you not let me lie and attack my constituents for partisan political points. THIS IS AMERICA!

Again, Walz and Vance were to fact check each other. It was not the moderators job to this debate. Next time you sign any sort of contract or agreement please just follow like a blind sheep when you get the rug pulled from under you.

Of course Vance is going to question why an agreement isnt followed. Who in their right mind wouldnt?

Someone that doesn't mind facts being checked.

Again, specific terms were agreed to. It was out of line for the moderators to fact check. Vance does not mind being fact checked, obviously, thats why he agreed to his opponent, Walz, checking him for corrections. The debate is Walz vs Vance. Not Vance vs moderators and Walz. The whole point of a debate between two people is to refute each other’s arguments. Not the moderators job. Walz had made claims that were not true and was not checked by the moderators like Vance was.

I didn't think it came across as whiny that he was upset the moderators violated the debate rules and then laughed about it as they muted his mic for pointing it out

“Umm akshually he didn’t come across as whiny when he complained about the rules not being perfectly followed”

they were outright broken, not imperfectly followed. They said they would not fact check and then they fact checked. There would be riots on this subreddit if the moderators did this against vice president harris instead of vance

Why is fact checking a problem?

It's not that fact checking is the problem. The debate format was that the candidates were responsible for fact checking one another.

I fail to grasp the reasoning behind that, but hey, they agreed to it.

Why is following the agreed upon rules a problem?

It's only fair if the moderators follow the rules that were set beforehand.

Fact checking is a problem because the “fact checkers” have been proven to be wrong on many occasions . So it’s interference because now you have to spend time debating the moderators to prove your point (which they don’t actually give you the time to do). And it seems that they always “fact check” Republicans and never Dems (like Dems never told a lie). If they want to fact check they should let the nominee have a rebuttal instead of saying “we’re out of time” and move on, only seems fair, no?

Please provide non-biased support for your claims. As it stands, everything I've heard and read says that Trump and Vance lie far, far more. Given that, they disproportionately benefit from forcing their opponents to fact check them rather than the moderators.

Yes but it hurts Vance so I don’t care
