How to deal with a difficult moderator on small subreddit

There’s a sub with about 1000 members and only 1 moderator. The moderator is not even a supporter of the product since they have anti-product messages public.

I asked them to appoint someone else and they said they won’t do it. How does Reddit handle situations like this?

Basically you can make your own sub

Reddit won't help with you not getting on or agreeing with the actions of mods in that community.

Either find another similar community on r/findareddit or make your own subreddit

If the sub and community is that small you could probably just start your own. If you can get some of the top posters there to join your sub it would make a good start. There's no rule that mod can't make that sub anti-product. That's just as legitimate as it being pro the product.

And why should anyone agree with your opinion that this moderator is "difficult" ? Difficult for whom ?

Are you by any chance the developer of the product which is covered by that sub ? Otherwise, why would you complain about "anti-product" messages being allowed ? On what principle do you think that a sub devoted to trinket X should censor posts not entirely laudative of trinket X ?

Reddit is a collection of public forums. It's not a place for clandestine advertising. Usually, people complain that moderators censor too much. You complain of the opposite. This is rather weird.

It’s not about agreeing or disagreeing if the mod is good or not. You wanna re-read my topic? I never said to ban them or remove them. I said to appoint another mod. I’ve never seen a sub with only 1 moderator. Usually there’s multiple mods to help promote and cover different time zones and availability

I actually recommended to mod one of the developers of the product who is active in the community but that fell on deaf ears so my request didn’t help. Much like how unhelpful your reply and attitude is.
