this is theoretically fine (all going well) since that’s AC it doesn’t matter which side is plugged in

HOWEVER

if the device fails, there’s no earthing protection and there’s risk of a fire or shock.

There are a lot of countries that have very little earthing protections. Most households having none some having only near bathrooms or in kitchens.

I think they are missing the "l". Very little protection from earthlings. And i find most earthlings to be terrible.
