Fuck me this game was ahead of its time. PS1 game with day/night cycles where quests and NPCs change depending on time of day or the fact that it played like a top down metroidvania/zelda-like with the monster absorption mechanic.
Damn what a great game for its time.

True! That day night cycle made the town feel so alive! I also loved all the puzzles and collectibles! Especially the toys that you can purchase looked so cool.

My art for day 6 of Inktober 2024! I was slightly disappointed that he didn't appear in Astrobot >_<

I really wish this would get a remaster or sequel. And I don't mean the ps3 one. A good one.

I remember that! Isn't it from the PS2? I remember my classmate lending the game to me and I didn't like it.

I googled it and you're 100% right!

Did u manage to finish that 2nd one? I got tired of it after the first boss fight tbh.

This game was amazing and completely underrated, in my opinion. My friend and I were the only ones we knew that even played it.

One of the first games I ever played. I remember absolutely nothing about it aside from loving it.

Try watching some cutscenes on youtube and I swear you are gonna laugh on the dialogue. They made it over the top on purpose. It knew the tone it was going for and went for it full ham.

A remake would be fantastic. Shame it seems like SE's long-since forgotten its existence.

u/Rossowinch Oct 07 '24
True. I think a smaller scale remake or reboot would do it justice. It doesn't need the triple A budget of modern games.

I loved that game but couldn't ever get past the mouse DDR sequence. I swear the timing made no sense. I could play DDR and simon fine but nothing worked there.

Best soundtrack on the PS1. No contest.

Listening to it now. You are correct! The music is so good. That Musashi Legend OST is so nostalgic and makes me feel like a kid again >_<

One of my favorite games of all time. Still have my OH copy.

I remember playing it as a demo in a Pizza hut CD before? Then I hunted the game down on stores and finally got the full version.

I am watching a video to remind myself. I forgot about the toys you collect and can open or keep in their packages!

Did u manage to unlock them all? I was a kid back then and was never able to. Also I didn't have any guide to it but probably it existed in those times in a game magazine.
Also never managed to find all the Minku powerups. The one that you need to wait for night time so that it sprouts out from the ground.

I played it along with 2 friends and we didn't find all the secrets. It was so long ago, it's hard to remember it all.

Yooo, now that's a deep cut. Square's answer to OOT -- one of the best action/adventure games on the PSX. Highly recommend trying it if you never have. Gameplay is a ton of fun, soundtrack is a banger, voice acting is cringe enough that it wraps back around to being awesome (Steve Blum is in it and also Musashi is the same voice actress as Kyle's mom. Yes, from South Park.) 10/10, I replay it every year.

Wait what's OOT?
Yeah the voice acting and dialogue I think is written badly on purpose to be corny. Even the names of the characters are food puns like Princess Fillet.
Wait how are u playing it? Is it available on ps5?
