Welcome to the fourth edition of our Ford Ranger Buyers' Guide! Here you can post your general buying questions, get insight into issues, post ads to trucks you are interested in, etc. This will keep the sub more organized and get rid of the constant posts that fill the sub up with buyers only.
Here's the best regarded buyers' guide on the web!
It has all kinds of information you can use to better judge a truck you are looking at. Things like specific things to look for, specific issues pertaining to certain years, engines, etc!
Please keep posts in this thread specific to buying Rangers. Off topic posts will be deleted. When someone posts a "Is this a good deal" post in this thread, please reply to it with your response, don't just reply to the general thread. Keep it organised please :)
From here on out, new posts made that should belong in here will be locked, and that user will be informed to post it in this thread. Thanks!

Just wanna give a heads up since mod queue is showing a ton of posts that get removed lately by reddit, so I just wanted to give a heads up as to why that is.
Using shortened links, regardless of the shortening service (tinyurl, website built in short links like amazons a.co links) are auto-removed by reddit themselves. There's nothing we can do to disable this auto removal.
If you notice your comment reply or post isn't appearing, this is why.

What is the ideal pressure for 235/75 15 tires? I use the pressure recommended in the owner's manual, but for use on dirt roads it is too much pressure.

When I was looking for photos before buying these parts, I was not pleased with existing before and after photos, so here ya go.
These photos are with 265/70/17s Falken Wildpeaks. This tire size WILL rub against the crash bars and you WILL need a 2.5" level/lift to no longer rub when turning. Don't listen to the forums that say you can run this tire size with stock suspension.
IF YOU PLAN TO INSTALL YOURSELF...... UNDO THE AXLE NUT BEFORE REMOVING THE STRUT!!!
I did not.... and replacing both CV axles from Ford (The only place you can get them) costed $350 each axle.
All things considered I think it looks great!

If I get the original 3 leaf pack, could I take out the center leaf and add my old overloads in there? That way I keep towing/payload but it would smooth out the ride decently right? It's a 2000 mazda b4000 4x4 if it makes a difference

Drift Ranger getting closer to completion. Needs the 4 link, fuel cell and rear mount radiator wrapped up. After that the new motor and trans can go in.

Did they flip the current? Because that shouldn’t be happening right? Or is it set to only one brightness. If so could anyone recommend me some leds that are bright but also cycle through low and high beam because I’m a respectful human

My 17 year old son has an ‘08 ranger. It’s in pretty good shape expect for the bed is rotted at the crossmember like they all seem to do. This one is almost rust free and is the right color.

Hey yall I have recently scrapped my 1995 ford ranger it's a 4.0 4x4 manual and my dream spec for these trucks but I have run into a bit of a dilemma I wrecked this one. I didn't report it to icbc but I slid into a ditch would it be worth it to go through and do repairs on this it currently needs panels windshield and a new front end (front end was bad before crash) or do I buy a cleaner donor that only needs an engine with less rust but swap both the transmission and engine into it

My first car and first ranger. First upgrade will be the tires. Looking for all terrain winter rated, Deciding between BFgood k02, falken wilkdpeak and Toyo open country 3. She needs some work but it’s something to do.

So I recently got this 1992 Ford Ranger about 2 months ago, I love this truck and its been amazing. However there are some things that concern me
1: The Temperature Gauge is not working at all, it doesn't move an inch no matter how long ive been driving, so I'm pretty sure thats a bad thing.
2: The RPM Gauge thingmabob also isn't working properly. As soon as I start the truck up (which is effortless btw, no problems on start) it will jump up to 3 and it will just sit there while idling. It will go up to 4 if im picking up speed but never lower than 3.
3: It Vibrates noticeably more during certain conditions. One condition is when im traveling around 40-60 mph, it has these moments where it vibrates a bit, (for like 5-10 seconds) then its stops. then like 20 seconds later it does it again. and it just repeats that cycle while I'm in higher speeds. Also when the truck is just sitting not moving (whether its at a stoplight or if I just started it in my driveway), it will shake considerably more, compared to me giving it throttle and actually moving the truck. But not only when the truck is physically moving, but whenever I give it gas in general or rev up the engine. Even when it is in park.
4: Theres a very quiet tick noise, nothing massive or anything, but im just new to rangers so i have no idea if that is normal or not.
Here are things I DID NOT replace at all, and i have no idea if the previous owner did.
-Spark Plugs
-Anything Drivetrain related
-Transmission
-Oil Change ( I topped it off with a quart of 5W-30 because it was low. But after checking the dipstick, it was pretty dark)
-Wheel Bearings, Rotors, Tires or anything Wheel Related
Here is what I DID change myself
Water Pump
Timing Cover Gasket
Power Steering Pump
Throttle Position Sensor
Throttle Intake Duct
Any Ideas? I really want to take care of this truck to get as much life as possible out of it. It's around 170K miles so far.
