Announcement UPDATE: Post Flairs for region/style and basic cost required. :)
Hello everyone,
We've left this up for about a week and got everyone's feedback
The first thing that we've taken action on is getting better info for peoples posts and content.
That means that flairs that let people know the region and basic price at a glance are now required for making and submitting a post to the sub.
We'll be trying to address the issues with "best" content that people are mining the sub with.
It's always been low effort and frankly I agree with everyone that we'll all benefit by having people use the search function.
This will also be aided by the flairs in their searches (future).
Of course if you have a workable suggestion regarding something we've not listed in the current flair list, let us know by sending us a modmail - thanks!

Idk why the desi restaurants in san diego doesn’t give rice with Curries! 18$ a curry and that too without rice? Are you kidding! Like how much does plain white rice cost dude? And when you have to buy extra its 2.5 / 3.5$! Crazy man, its like 17$ for 20lb rice (uncooked) in texas -_-

Question, Where can I find? Large (5+ Lbs) Boneless Turkey Breasts to Cook?
I'm wanting to smoke a turkey breast & only have seen the smaller (3 pound) Butter Ball brand kind at many of the stores. Apparently they aren't any large breasts available at any of the Costco locations, according to their website. I know this is a somewhat specific question, but does anyone know of any places that sell them anywhere in SDC or the surrounding area?

Question, Where can I find? Ambiance for the 'uncultured' palate
My husband has the palate of a sheltered, raised-in-a-tiny-town-in-the-Midwest 8-year-old (not even a dig; we laugh about this together). Think cheeseburgers plain 'n' dry, frozen-then-fried chicken strips with french fries and just ketchup, and club sandwiches (no mayo, no tomato). Any steak he orders is gonna be medium well. He's never met an aioli he wants to try ("too fancy"), and pork belly is wasted on him, cuz he'd just as readily accept a well done piece of pork butt smothered in "fresh" from the packet brown gravy.
Where can I take a man with such 'simple' taste that'll have a nice, romantic ambiance for his birthday? He'll do ethnic cuisine (because I like it), but, again it's "simple": chicken teriyaki over white rice at a sushi restaurant, chicken fried rice at Chinese or Thai. Chicken pho, no vegetables or green onions or accoutrements allowed. 😮💨Any ideas for 'simple' but an overall experience greatly appreciated! 🥺🙏 Oh, and I know 'burrito on a blanket on the beach'. . . but we're both spoiled locals that hate the hassle and only visit the beach maybe once a year. . . for our kid. Parking/ walking/ sand isn't our idea of a good time (now's the time to throw the stones 🙈).

Question, Where can I find? Looking for Healthy Private Chef
Hi!!
We are looking for a health oriented private chef to come to our house and meal prep on Sundays! We’re looking for a few lunches, but mostly dinners for 5 days out of the week. We eat gluten free and organic and are very cautious about ingredients! Let me know where I could find someone!
Thanks!

Question, Where can I find? Is it difficult to get seated at Fortunate Son in North Park without a reservation
I want to go to Fortunate Son for my birthday next week but I keep trying to g to find reservations online and it’s difficult to find anything within the timeframe I’m looking for. On their website, it says “RESERVATIONS SOMETIMES AVAILABLE” so I understand it’s a popular spot and might be tough getting in.
It’s just me and my wife who would be going. Anyone have any experience with just showing up there and waiting for a table? I’d be happy to wait for probably up to an hour.

American / Diner $30 Rudford's Christmas Day
Just a quick after action report from our Rudfords Christmas Day dinner:
The LOGISTICS
We arrived at 2:30pm and there was about 20 people waiting outside. We put our name on the list and it took us a little less than a half hour to be seated.
Six of us were seated at a booth; my wife and I, two daughters, two grandkids.
The FOOD
The adults ordered the turkey, ham and lamb xmas dinner. The kids got burgers off the kids menu. Personally , I got the turkey and it was ok. The dark meat was nice and juicy, the white meat was a little dry but good enough with gravy. Tried my daughter's lamb and it was really good. Tried my wife's ham and it was excellent. Each plate came with mashed potatoes and veggies. You could choose between sour or salad. I got the salad and it was fresh and had really good blue cheese dressing. After the dinner we had the option of apple or peach Betty. We all got the apple. It was good.
The FINANCES
The total for the whole thing for the six of us: $138
Each xmas dinner was about 25 dollars with tax.
The two kids menu burgers were 8 bucks each.
Sodas for the table were 23 for all six.
160 out the door with tip.

Question, Where can I find? Christmas Eve Dinner for 1 🥂
I’m looking to take myself out for a nice dinner at a restaurant bar on Christmas Eve.
I’m looking for something like Vaga in Enci or Campfire (closed today) in Carlsbad! Love restaurants in the Fort Oak (Trust?) restaurant group, but they’re all closed today and a little further south than I want to go! I’m in Oceanside now and ideally not going further south than Enci (but would be willing to drive for the perfect place). Ideally not looking for a chain and it’s ok if it’s in a luxe hotel!
Any ideas? 😊 🎄 🤶🏼
