"Lost Causer" is the common unflattering name for peopel who insist the Confederacy seceded over "state's rights." The joke is that the Confederate constitution specifically talks about slavery as a major reason for the secession

There's nothing in the preamble about slavery. Just two major clauses in both articles I and IV specifically protecting it.
