Hi there!

My goal for 2025 is to create the biggest most complete edtech companies directory (https://www.edtechcompanies.com).

Sharing a Collection of 50+ Digital Learning Tools

Hi everyone!

I’m a French technology teacher, and I love exploring new online tools. To make it easier to share what I’ve discovered, I created a website featuring a growing list of tools I’ve come across (though I haven’t tested all of them yet).

The site is still a work in progress, but you can already browse it and even suggest tools through a dedicated form. Feel free to bookmark it—I’ll be adding new resources regularly!

Check it out here: https://www.teacherapps.org/

Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Looking for tools to teach computer fundamentals.

I’m not talking about scratch, micro-bits or high-end coding. I’m talking about fundamental mouse skills, how to use a word processor and why it’s important for middle school kids to know how to use a spreadsheet.

I’m a K-8 computer teacher trying to instill computer fundamentals before we get to the ‘fun bits’ like coding. The main issue I run into is that computer labs are inherently built as ‘independent activity’ spaces so it’s hard to hold a ‘lecture’ without immediately running around and teaching 20-some kids individually what I just demonstrated on the board. On top of this I’m stuck in a chrome-based environment so everything has to be browser-based. ‘Programs’ like Docs and Sheets and Drive aren’t designed to teach people how to ~use~ them; they assume you already know the basics. And I had middle school students who had never made a folder in a storage drive. Filters in e-mails are dark magic to them.

Are there good tools out there for teaching students these basics the way there are five million tools for teaching scratch, CAD-for-kids and programming?

FERPA Compliance Question

Hi! I am building an EdTech platform. Quick question: Where do I start to get approved by districts if a school wants to use my product? Secondly, would I need to get approval if I am just storing a student's first name and last initial (ex. John T)? Would love advice/guidance on both of these questions. Thanks!

Student emails for a startup with an edtech element

I am a co-founder in a startup that's involved in training, recruiting, and managing individuals for projects related to the fine arts field. Now, as we are a startup, we don't have a lot of funds to spare on a google account for all of our students, we can afford google workspace for the staff but not for the students as we're expecting around a thousand students to register.

So I'd like advice on other online means or tools I could use in giving my students access (access limited to them only) to the learning material. What I need is to give out verified email addresses to my students for them to access the google folder with the learning material and google meet/zoom for when we have a live online class. It is very important to note that our students are not as tech saavy as one would like them to be so please try to give me some user-friendly recommendations.

Thank you so much for your comments in advance.

SMART vs. ViewSonic

Looking for some feedback on both. Currently working with a SMARTBoard but have seen the capabilities of a ViewSonic and want to know if the grass is really greener.

And how different is the SMART notebook software versus ViewSonic’s? I’m trying to remember the last time SMART added anything new to their notebook software.

Looking for feedback about Online Curriculum Platforms

Hey everyone, Our school is about to start evaluating different online curriculum options, and Ed from HMH is one of the top contenders. For those of you who have experience with this platform, I'd love to hear your thoughts: * How was the onboarding and training process for teachers? Was it efficient and helpful? * What's your overall impression of the curriculum content? Is it engaging and aligned with standards? * How do you feel about the platform's user experience? Is it intuitive and easy to navigate for both teachers and students? If you haven't used HMH, are there other online curriculum platforms you'd recommend? We're looking for something that provides a great experience for both teachers and students. Thanks in advance for your insights!

Anyone use Minecraft education for private tutoring? I want to start but I'm not sure if I have to require the student's family to install Minecraft education as well or if I'm able to create a student spot and have them join my server. I'd love to be able to connect with somebody who has experience

Hi everyone! I’m a student at EKA University of Applied Sciences, and I’m working on my thesis about the potential of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) in education. I’m exploring how these technologies can make learning more engaging, inclusive, and accessible.

I’ve created a short survey (takes about 5–10 minutes) to gather insights and perspectives. Your feedback will help shape my research and contribute to the growing conversation about VR/AR in modern education.

  2. How do you currently handle translating or dubbing your videos?
  3. If there was an app to simplify this process, what features would be a must-have for you?

Whether you’re a YouTuber, educator, or small business owner, your insights would mean the world to me. I’m gathering feedback to better understand the needs of creators like you before building out the tool.

How do you keep students focused with better visuals?

I’ve found that my students focus way better when I use visuals to break up the material. But designing those visuals takes a lot of effort, and sometimes I wonder if there’s a more efficient way.

What tools or strategies do you use to create visuals that actually hold student attention? I’m looking for anything that helps make this process smoother.

update: I just found a few good places for the visuals: Canva, Adobe Express, ChatSlide.

Hi all. I'm teaching a university course in the spring that introduces pre-teachers to a variety of technologies. What are some popular websites, games, tools, etc. that I should include in the course for these potential teachers to use in the future? So far I've included Canva/PowerPoint, Kahoot, Quizlet, Padlet, Popplet, Book Creator, and Prodigy.

What’s the minimum “buy in” to run tech at a small college?

What is the minimum cost for enterprise technology in higher education? Assuming a small college of 1,000 undergrads with and without residence hall. You need an SIS, Finance and HRIS. You need a cloud email and collaboration suite and an LMS. You need a network and tech in your classrooms. Plus staff to manage all this. What’s the minimum “buy in” to run tech at a small college?

How do you keep students engaged when introducing new materials?

As a teacher, I’ve noticed that students often struggle to stay engaged when reading dense textbooks or complex materials. One approach I’ve been experimenting with is giving them a quick, engaging summary of what the content is about before they dive in.

It seems to help them focus better and retain more information since they have a framework in mind before tackling the details. What’s your approach to helping students stay focused and absorb information more effectively?

Cryptosmite exploit

Has anyone else experienced this exploit in their CB fleet and if so was there anyway you found to stop the students from using it? Reading through other posts about this type of Sh1mmer exploit I haven’t found a way but maybe we’ve missed something?

Is there a more efficient way to find edtech jobs?

If i use Linkedin and filter by industry.(E-learning, Higher education) you can miss out on companies like Duolingo. They go by the Software Development filter. One thing I tried to do is go on HolonIQ, go to Chatgpt copy a screenshot of the list of companies, then say create me a boolean search with these companies. I need an easier way to find jobs at Edtech companies .
