I’ve been searching for months for retail, fast food, customer service jobs so I can afford to pay for my rent, since financial aid didn’t cover cost of living expenses for me. Has anyone been having similar issues? Anyways if anyone who is in the northridge area has a job that is currently hiring new workers, please lmk!!

HSCI 331 Prof Valdez

Professor Valdez is honestly one of the worst professors I’ve ever had in my life. Super condescending and rude and from what I’ve heard makes students feel bad just for asking questions. Has this ridiculous rule about using laptops or iPads in class so we only can use notebooks and a pen. Assigns way too much work for a three unit lower division class and thinks way too highly of herself. I passed her class and thank god I did cause I don’t think I’d have the patience to retake her and it’s crazy how she’s the only professor for this one class that’s required for public health. Does anyone else have any negative experiences with her?

Any recommended hotels around CSUN for guests at the Soraya?

Not a student at CSUN but I (24F) wanna attend a concert at the Soraya and not sure where to stay around thats safe to stay at night time, like it might end at 10 at night. I'm planning to take public transportation there but stay the night in the area.

Would any of you guys have recommendations of places to stay around the area? + Are ubers common and easy to get in this area since its a commuter school?

Panicking about What to expect

Where should I start? I am currently in my senior year and on the path to graduating in Fall 2026. But, it's hard for me to try and find jobs that align with my major which is Early Childhood Education (Development). I hold an associate's degree in my major, but I have yet to secure a job related to it. Despite applying to countless positions, I haven’t been given the opportunity to showcase my potential. It is frustrating to be deeply committed to a major I love while facing uncertainty about my future after graduation. I am determined to find a way to leverage my skills and education in the job market.

Has anyone faced this issue before? I would appreciate hearing your experiences and how you managed to resolve it. Your insights could be really helpful!

Get A US Passport & Global Entry

For those who are interested in traveling to another country during spring break, get both of the following:

-US Passport Booklet (Valid for 10 years) -Global Entry with TSA Pre-Check (Valid for 5 years)

I recommend getting an expedited US Passport Booklet that will cost you $247. It’s a great way to ensure that you get your passport fast and easy. Also, if you hate waiting in long TSA and Customs lines, get the Global Entry with TSA Pre-Check for $120. It’ll save you the headache of having to wait in those lines and make it to your flight on time.

In total, those two things will cost you a total of $367. As someone who has both of these, traveling internationally has been a breeze for me going and coming back. I would start in the beginning of January and getting it done by the end of January to ensure that you’ll be set for Spring Break which will start from March 15th-23rd.

Here’s the website for US Passports: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/need-passport/apply-in-person.html#Step%20Seven

Here’s the website for Global Entry with TSA Pre-Check: https://ttp.dhs.gov

Trust me, if you have money to spend on entertainment (however you define it) then you should put that money towards these two things.
