It’s 71 Fahrenheit, at least the climate control is working (seeing that it’s an all-electric sedan)

It's far more viable to run the HVAC when you don't also have to keep a whole engine ticking over as well. It runs longer, for less money, without the danger of emitting dangerous combustion byproducts into the space. You could totally do it with an ICE; I live in a desert and see people leave their vehicles running for the AC all the time. I wouldn't do that but I might use this mode in an EV.
