Do your cats want you to watch over them while they're on the litterbox?

So my cat always accompanies me to the bathroom - this is fairly standard procedure for cats, and I've heard they do the same in their feral colonies. Keeping each other safe. Which made me think - I wonder if my cat thinks I'm an asshole for never following him to the litterbox. Does anyone have a cat who demands this?
