I keep cameras in the house and have them trained with automatic feeders. I have a friend I can call if something goes sideways. I will watch them regularly via the cameras.

This. Seems doable. You can also hire cat sitters. As for personal vacations, you can maybe slowly train your cats to travel with you?

If you can't come up with solutions for times when there might be emergencies and there are no alternatives such as sitters or acquaintances to watch over them, then I think it would be best to put your cats up for adoption. I am sorry to say something so terrible and cruel, but I don't think I can sugarcoat this.

It's alright if you can't come up with solutions for such times. I don't think everyone can. But it's also our responsibility to accept our limitations and to ensure that our cats gets the most adequate care and love.

I saw a similar story as you on the front page and the lady abandoned her dog on the street. I'm not saying you are the same as that lady but please don't let circumstances get that bad and just don't be a piece of unrecyclable human.

Ps. No one should adopt a pet without thinking of all possible scenarios. For you, they might just be one of the many "things" that keep you company but for them it's only you who is their caretaker. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings OP. Whatever I said, I said with the best intentions in mind.

Edit: I saw your comment and there's a pet service near your place! I think that should be a viable option for you. You seem like a good person riddled with worries and anxiety about their cats. I believe if there have been no problems with the said service, you should also take it easy on yourself (easy for me to say hah, sorry) :)

There is a pet near by who offers this service, already speak to them and 90% that's it will be my option in next trips, just have to prepare myself mentally because I'm kinda get overworry and a bit anxious when leave them alone, not because they safety, I know they're gonna be treated well, but I can't stop thinking in how they gonna feel not finding me in home(I know, I know, we are not that important than we think). Unfortunately don't have much friends and definitely none I can ask for it.

But yeah maybe iam just overthinking when is no needed.

Can you take your cats with you on some trips or are they scared of new places?  Mine can walk on a leash, drive in a car with no problems.  If you do this though, put trackers on them.  Bluetooth is not good enough.  Get gps if you will always be in an area with cell service.  Otherwise, cat a radio frequency based tracker.

Honestly you don’t sound like a very good pet owner. To know you live in a place that doesn’t have a lot of accommodations for cats and to not figure out any overnight options is a big failure on your part. I don’t know about Brazil but the US has apps (like Rover) where you can hire sitters to watch your animals. But honestly it sounds like you are not willing to pay any money. My guess is you will give them to a friend who gives them away or you just let them go.

You got pets with making no plans for them and are actually saying you regret getting them. Yes you sound like a bad pet owner. 🙄🤦‍♀️
