I literally can't get over the 2 cats just looking with the kid intently 😭😂

15

u/SugarplumStorm 24d ago

It's like the cats are the parents and the kid is the one in trouble 😂

3

u/TinkerbellPuddle 24d ago

The cats have probably hidden the toy just to watch the chaos unfold.

142

u/TheZippoLab 24d ago
  1. Pull out stove drawer.
  2. Remove pots/pans from drawer.
  3. Angle drawer upwards to gently remove.
  4. Lie on floor, retrieve toy.
  5. Repeat entire process 30 minutes later when toy is re-pushed under stove.
  6. Use swear words during number 5 (above).

u/Del_3030 24d ago edited 24d ago

Good advice but Step 4 should also include finding at least 3 more toys that were presumed dead, a shriveled grape, and a bottle cap.

39

u/rabidstoat 24d ago

I once moved out of an apartment that I'd been living in for three years. The furniture people came over and when they moved the couch out, there were like 50 tiny toy mice where the couch had been.

16

u/[deleted] 24d ago

own a ferret and the toys come from inside the couch.

8

u/trainercatlady 24d ago

And about 40 hair ties

u/ArcadeAnarchy 24d ago
  1. Have the kid get it.

"She" is holding her buddy. Tricolor=female

55

u/UnGatito 24d ago

Not always though, there are make tricolor cats, just not as many.

u/Waffle_King_57 24d ago edited 24d ago

I have a tricolor good boi

Edit: paid the tax

40

u/littleliongirless 24d ago edited 24d ago

Hey, pay your cat tax dude.❤️

Edit: He paid the tax! What a handsome and majestic floof!

21

u/Mielornot 24d ago

Yeah pay the tax!!

18

u/ThirdAlt6969 24d ago

I am once again, asking you to pay the tax of the cat

24

u/ThePocketPanda13 24d ago

Yes, but theyre even more rare than an orange female. Around %20-25 of orange cats are female, while %0.03 tricolored cats are male.

The reason for this is because, to simplify it a whole lot because genetics is complicated, the orange gene is essentially a recessive gene for females but not for males.

Tricolors are more complicated, so without getting into the "why" im just going to leave it at the conclusion that the tricolor pattern requires 2 X chromosomes. In order to have a male tricolor he would have to have XXY chromosomes, a genetic defect. Not to worry though, besides being slightly more prone to certain diseases and being sterile this genetic defect has almost no impact on your cats health

6

u/UnGatito 24d ago

I had one, and yes they are rare as heck I know. Don't know about sterile though as the vet took care of that before it could be an issue. He lived for 22 years.

8

u/ThePocketPanda13 24d ago

I mean the sterility doesn't really matter because you should still neuter them for health purposes, its just an interesting fact

→ More replies (6)

4

u/Juror_Number_4 24d ago

Neither vet knew why, but two different ones told me that for some reason in my area 50-60% of orange cats are actually female. 🤷‍♂️ One wandered up while I was building something in my back yard and never left.

Also to add, I had a cat who gave birth to a litter and 1 was a short hair calico boy….. this will sound gruesome… but my other male cat(the one that didn’t mate with the female as he was new to the house) killed it months later… there was only 4 from the litter.. I was so sad and devastated… there were 3 males and 1 female from that litter too… the other 2 males wasn’t even bothered by the male and was even well accepted…. I don’t know how true that tomcats sees male calico as a threat or not but I was devastated… I was young and wasn’t well off and found the mama cat with the other cat together out in the rain… and didn’t had much to neuter/spay them as we weren’t able to afford since it was expensive, this was around 25 years ago… till this day I remember it so vividly. I cried for days… I tried to hate on that male cat but it was just a cat… I love them all so dearly…

4

u/FionaTheElf 24d ago

I have an orange female and a hermaphroditic tricolor.

We are still looking for a couple of my boy's toys it's like he sends them into the void.

32

u/lovestobitch- 24d ago

We moved some stuff around fully thinking we’d finally find the lost balls to the three terrace ball toy. Nope. I’ve seen one of the two drop a toy in his litter box and definitely in the water bowl. Have bought a second ball toy to use as a replacement.

19

u/rabidstoat 24d ago

It's scary because Jax really loves his Bucky Beaver toy. It's the only toy he plays with. At least twice a day he start growling and picks it up in his teeth and struts around with it, showing it off.

I fear for the day when it becomes lost forever.

12

u/loveNthundermifflin 24d ago edited 24d ago

I'm a cat owner of a year now. Didn't know this was a thing until now. Her favorite toy disappeared a couple months ago and then i realized many other toys were missing. They are nowhere.

5

u/Headed_East2U 24d ago

Same place the missing socks end up.

25

u/justsomepotatosalad 24d ago

There’s a room in our house that we keep closed overnight. Every morning I have to go in there and rescue the 5+ toys that my cats push under the door because they “lose” them on purpose…

6

u/Future_Direction5174 24d ago

Yes, I am sure that my daughter’s void was deliberately knocking her toys under the fridge so that we would get them out for her. I ended up putting a small piece on wood across in front of both of the feet. That way they could only go under it by an inch.

The search party is in full effect. Wish them luck.

276

u/GrammarPatrol777 24d ago

We found 22 kitty spring toys under the fridge. I think Melvin bats them under there on purpose!

58

u/EmiliaFromLV Maine Coon 24d ago

None of them was the toy we went looking for...

17

u/Bastette54 24d ago

And how long did they stay “above ground?” I was once able to retrieve about the same number of spring toys from under the fridge, and they all disappeared again within 20 minutes.

2

u/Zealousideal_Sir5421 24d ago

I had to block off under my fridge with some cardboard lol

→ More replies (1)

14

u/8lock8lock8aby 24d ago

Mine drag all their toys into the kitchen & immediately start batting them under the fridge. Like they don't even try to play normally with them, they just try to push them to where they can't get them.

2

u/Bastette54 24d ago

But then it’s so much fun to try!

u/my_stupid_name 24d ago

16

I think it’s a bot, look at the profile

3

u/BigMcThickHuge 24d ago

Absolutely a bot.  It just has massive posts being spammed out hourly, almost no comments, any comments made are almost always deleted (mods discovering bot).

Money says it's one of the networks of the little fuckers pumping eachother.

7

u/ShanaAfterAll 24d ago

Love it! I have a fishing rod that is only used for cat toy retrieval.

7

u/Definitely_Not_Erin 24d ago

I went to your profile as well. You seem like an awesome person! Very creative with a love of candy and cats. 🩷

Those drawers come out pretty easily fyi, in case you ever need to look for something under there again, and with cats that's guaranteed

78

u/limit_13 24d ago

Love to see cats being bros.

73

u/SushiMom213 24d ago

8

u/Interesting-Rush780 24d ago

this is too funny, they look so invested

9

u/Public-Sink6672 24d ago

I think OP and I share the same cat. 🤣

8

u/Boomersgang 24d ago

My boy, Mr. Bond has his special collection under the stove as well.

3

u/Inner-Purpose7061 24d ago

X3.. anyone gonna tell her the bottom try likely pulls out?

5

u/alkaliphiles 24d ago

I've got books under my stove to prevent my void from getting her favorite mouse lost under there.

Before that, I'd literally have to fish it out a dozen times a day

5

u/usernamethismf 24d ago

Ohh..nice clean grout. I like that.

4

u/HappyCamperUke 24d ago

We own a yard stick for this sole purpose. China hutch sweep, stove sweep, fridge sweep, wine chiller sweep. Sigh. So many mousie toys.

2

u/Emergency-Problem-15 24d ago

I do the same thing 🤣. My cats know when I bring out the garden stake toys will be found

2

u/HappyCamperUke 24d ago

And I know they supervise the work, right? Watching the whole process like a little furry micro-manager.

7

u/AnyDamnThingWillDo Moggy 25d ago

Did that very thing last night.

7

u/Frosty-Reporter7518 24d ago

Are you aware the drawer can come out. The rails slide function just like normal drawer slides

3

u/PrisonerV 24d ago

FYI - That bottom drawer in the oven comes out and you have full access to the bottom of the stove.

I learned this when we redid the flooring in the kitchen.

3

u/Joblessanalyst 24d ago

Under our oven

3

u/95blackz26 24d ago

love it how the one has it's paw on the other one

u/deerfawns 24d ago

3

u/inthevendingmachine 24d ago

Did you look under the fri...nevermind.

3

u/exchaindragger 24d ago

And it will be lost again 5 minutes after you find it

3

u/Ace-of-snakes 24d ago

"It's okay buddy, the big hairless cat may be stupid, but they're really good at getting the toys that vanish under the Forbidden food box."

3

u/[deleted] 24d ago

Cats are incredible, royal, majestic creatures. Honestly, they never cease to surprise me. I think they are gifts from the supernatural world (if you believe such a place exists). Humans do not deserve cats. I love cats. The end.

5

u/Red-head-0 24d ago

Guys, I couldn't resist sharing this picture of my cat today! 🐾 Isn't she the absolute queen of sass in her little outfit? I can't get over how adorable she looks—it's like she knows she's stealing the show. 😂 What do you think? Would your cat ever tolerate wearing something like this? Let me know, and share your fur babies' pics too!

2

u/extrastupidone 24d ago

That drawer comes right out

2

u/Dry_Cardiologist6758 24d ago

This is so freaking cute! 🥹😍

2

u/VegetableCommand9427 24d ago

This is priceless!

2

u/jawknee530i 24d ago

That drawer under the oven is removable.

2

u/BillyBobbaFett 24d ago

I think your cats are trying to tell you that there's a drawer that pulls out the bottom.

2

u/lu5ty 24d ago

Bug Rockwell vibes from this

2

u/Jealous_Courage_9888 24d ago

“It’s okay Babe, hell get it”

2

u/flatbushkats 24d ago

FYI for those in a similar situation: if that isn’t a drawer, it is probably just a panel that pulls right off with a gentle tug.

2

That floor looks super clean.

2

u/temporaryspastics 24d ago

Emotional support cat.

2

u/YippyYupYap 24d ago

They are so invested 😭😭😭

2

u/Thatguyfacepalm 24d ago

That drawer should lift up, you can take most of them off.

2

u/Big-Red-Rocks 24d ago

Pull the drawer out from the oven…

2

u/Jasperblu 24d ago

Awwww, look at the one kitty providing emotional support for the other kitty. Too cute! 🥹

2

u/Anleme 24d ago

Growing up, we always had a wooden yardstick by the fridge for just such "emergencies" to fish out items that rolled under.

Now, I don't have kids or pets. But I still keep a wooden yardstick next to the fridge. Don't ask me why, LOL.

2

u/ReTrOGurle 24d ago

I have a long umbrella for under the sofa

2

u/jamey92 24d ago

Cortez knows when I pull out pink metal ruler thats its to get a toy out from under the stove/washing machine/tight spot

2

u/theUnkn0wnHokage 24d ago

That cat is comforting the other one. “Don’t worry whiskers , we will get Mr Fluffles soon”

2

u/pix666 24d ago

I did that about an hour ago but under and pantry cabinet with a skewer. I got out about 15 pipe cleaners.

2

u/Chemical-Career-2463 24d ago

Awwwwww the emotional support from the left cat. ❤️💯🤗

2

u/BuilderKlutzy 24d ago

This is so relatable..

2

u/soonergirl_63 24d ago

OMG we have to do that all the time! And the cats love to participate, guiding the stick with their arms & helping as much as they can. And then, they hide it in the same damned place 10 minutes later. Because cat. And they love it!

2

u/Bessie_Charm 24d ago

teamwork

2

u/Privileged_Interface 24d ago

Years ago, whenever I made a cup of Twinnings, my cat would immediately recognise the distinct sound of the paper tea bag cover. As soon as I would begin to crumple it, she would come running, even if she was upstairs. I would toss it up, and she would leap in the air to get it, like it was the very first time. She would chase it all around for a few minutes, until it inevitably went under the fridge.

All of them would end up under the fridge. Then when you pull out the fridge, there would be like a hundred of them.

2

u/Drink-my-koolaid 24d ago

This feels very Norman Rockwell!

1

u/Leading_Ant_7771 24d ago

This is us all day every day! ❤️

1

u/jessiebearie 24d ago

I do this nearly daily to get my cat’s favorite spring toys out!

Pulling out the oven drawer should give you easier access to find the toys btw! Most of the toys end up at the back so I have to pull out the drawer so I can just reach in and grab them instead of trying to get them through the bottom crack.

1

u/Barewithhippie Tabbycat 24d ago

I can assure you that they’re helping

1

u/Pale_Somewhere_596 24d ago

I love when my cats do this, too!!

😭🥰🥰🥰

1

u/Deep-Stranger1335 24d ago

I saw the mouse run under here.

1

u/T0eBeanz 24d ago

I always find at least a dozen catnip mice whenever I clean underneath my stove 😂

1

u/DeadStroke_ 24d ago

You should be able to pull out the drawer in the bottom of the oven, then you can reach all the toys under there.

I do this every few months and always find a nice collection of toys the cats have been missing.

1

u/Some_Corgi6483 24d ago

My cat secretly loves doing this sort of thing lol

1

u/chinas2801 24d ago

So relatable! I moved my oven yesterday for cleaning, and actually found 8 cat toys underneath 😂

1

u/Hungry_Fly_2148 24d ago

Wow! How do you get 4k+ upvotes! I post about my kittie, and the poor guy gets only a few votes! Crazy! Really cute, fluffy cats!

1

1
