Advice New office cat needs a name!

Post image

No idea if it's a he or a she. Lives in the neighbourhood and comes in our office to chill during working hours.

Buddy ……. Buddy at work today was extra - he was literally jumping from desk to desk. Buddy at work refused to get off my chair today because he wanted my butt warmth. Buddy at work scratched me today for moving too fast. I turned around and Buddy was taking nibbles from my tuna sandwich.

Or a very human name, like Dave or Harper, like:
Dave got stuck behind the fridge again.
Harper couldn't keep off my desk, there's footprints all over my documents now.

Imagine the horrified looks before you clarify, it's a cat.

I definitely support this idea! My late cat had a normal human name that was a decently common name for human kids at the time... I cannot tell you how many people first assumed I was talking about a human child when I talked about him. Lol

And we just adopted a kitten and also named him a human name. He's barely been with us 3 months so far and someone has already asked me if I was talking about my son - so I had to hit 'em with the "well yes, but actually no."

We rescued 2 feline brothers. The shelter had already named them Douglas and Fur as in the beautiful Oregon Douglas Fir trees🌲 We opted to keep the names since they were humorous.

A: "Can you convince Dave to see a Therapist, he seems like a nice guy, but he clearly needs professional help."
B: "No, seems like normal behavior, and vet fees are pretty high right now"
A: "?!"

Gotta love Dave.

Okay, this, except replace Buddy with Paul. Be sure to never mention that Paul is a cat.

Paul is the perfect old man office guy name

Don't you just hate it when you're working, and buddy is just at his desk licking his own butt?

Make sure Buddy gets an IDCard with a photo and wins Employee of the Month for Christmas.

u/mareksoon Nov 14 '24

… and every time he gets chatty you can say, β€œtell me about it, Bud.”

Source: have cat named Buddy.

Since he looks to be very healthy and plump, he probably has a home in that neighborhood, and therefore a name to go with that home. His ear is also "tipped" which is an indicator that he has been neutered...

So Buddy is perfect, as it can also simply be a nickname for a friend (or potential combatant) - "Hey Buddy, what are you doing?!", and fits so well with the stories generated to shock listeners!! πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ˜Έ
