I personally like Orijien en Acana a lot for dry, Markus-Muhle is my favorite though, highest protein % from any dry food i found and it’s cold pressed so it keeps it’s nutrients better (it’s a german brand so no idea if it’s available in the US). Rawz is great to
For wet food there are a lot of great brands out there, i do lika almo nature ( this isn’t a complete food but a good extra), orijen wet food as well, first mate and instinct original are great to.
All of these are pretty expensive though, but so is royal canine. Just go take a look at royal canine’s ingredient list and compare it to the ones i mentioned, there is barely any real meat in it, mostly powdered stuff to make their nutrient levels look good.
The downvotes on my comment show how great their marketing is at making people believe their food is actually any good.
Yeah it’s pretty wild, most people just have zero knowledge on cat nutrition it’s sad. Even vets are guilty of that. My vet is specialized in cat nutrition and she would never recommend royal canin.
