Information Looking for Untold Stories in Bali to Document
Hi everyone!
I’m an independent filmmaker based in Bali, and I’ve just completed a documentary on stateless children in Sabah Malaysia. I’m now looking for compelling stories here in Bali to document for my next project.
If you know of unique, untold stories whether they’re about inspiring individuals, cultural traditions, environmental challenges, or social issues I’d love to hear them. I’m particularly interested in narratives that reflect resilience, innovation, or perspectives that often go unheard.

You might look at the plight of people with HIV/AIDS here. It gets very little coverage but is a tragic issue.

Bali is believed to have among the highest rate of missing people in Indonesia during the communist purge in the mid 1960s. Just ten years beforehand, left wing parties (PSI, PNI) obtained the most votes in Bali at the 1955 (national) election

Basically, all have been exposed, but in case some missed it:
A village where the villagers are all mute.
Before Hinduism came to Bali, dead people were not cremated.

Leave those villagers alone. They don’t want to be exposed.
Do investigate the stray dog kidnapping instead.

Don’t know if it’s ’untold’ but the cliff and natural habitat destruction in Uluwatu.
