no politics [no-politics] What's happening this weekend? 28/Dec/2024
Now we're done with the Friday venting, what's good in life? Got a new job? Have a date? Going out to a socially distanced restaurant? Climbing, sailing, riding or just working up a hard-earned thirst?

image Wtf is this job listing
I don’t understand how they can call a candidate with 3+ years experience and preferably a masters degree an “entry level”. What a joke.
Would’ve had at least 3-4 years in university and 3 years real experience for 7 total years of learning/experience to be called entry level and the an absolute disgrace of a salary.

no politics Squid Game + McDonalds =?
Is it just me or is it really fucking weird to do a promotional tie-in between these two things? Is it some sort of meta irony burger? Is it just Australia doing this? How would this conversation have gone in marketing at Maccas HQ? Honestly cannot fathom how this rolled out.

image I've got a lot of bees in my tree. How do I keep them happy?
I'm led to believe bees are pretty well stuffed because of a disease. I've got heaps in a tree in my yard. Does anyone know what to do to help them? I've put a bowl of water out near them but they don't use it. I can't find a hive anywhere but there's lots of trees

My food took way longer to arrive than the expected time and by the time it came it was inevitable. Have other people had experiences like this because this isn’t the first time it’s happened.

no politics SUMMER HOLIDAY DRIVERS ARE PUSHING ME OVER THE EDGE.
I have a problem. I am getting way too angry at all these people on the roads during the holidays. The amount of people driving 10 or 20 under the limit is insane. There are also others that drive 10-20 over too and tailgate the hell out of you. Any advice on how I can cope? I know being pissed isn’t the solution.

no politics Jetstar! I love them!
Until May this year I had not flown for over 25 years. I need a wheelchair to travel and imagined it would be a nightmare. Boy was I wrong, the staff could not have been kinder and organised. They took me to the plane in my own chair and then from the plane to baggage claim to pick up my chair and meet family.
This experience gave me the confidence to travel again this Christmas so I could spend it with my sons for the first time in over 10 years. Again everything went smoothly and staff were incredibly friendly and kind

no politics Charities and the elderly - are they playing nice?
Sorting out my Mum's affairs as executor, I was surprised at how many charities she had signed up to - over a dozen. They ranged from $10 to $50 a month.
It's Mum's money and she can spend it how she likes, but I worry that the charities might have been coercive and sharing her details.
Once we cancelled the account, the volume of calls, texts, emails and mail was intense. They were determined to get the money tap turned back on and quite insistent. So I imagine they could have pushed the bounds on "persuasion" when signing her up.
It makes me wonder how common this behaviour is?
For people with older parents, are their tips to share that can help protect them from manipulation? Do the banks have any tools that help?
