I’m about to start Alien Isolation for the 10th time, but this time I'll be playing on PC. Do you guys have any mod recommendations to make the game better? I’d love mods that make the game more challenging or improve the visuals. Open to any suggestions thanks!
I've played Alien Isolation nightmare mode on my ps4 but I just bought it on steam and I downloaded the vr mod and I just wanted some advice from others who have played it (p.s I'm experienced in vr games so I wont get motion sick)
Just missed the 10th anniversary mark with a couple of days, but today I can finally release an alpha version of the Working Joe's Graphics Improvements and Fixes mod (Link: GitHub)!
I began working on this mod a couple of months ago after trying MotherVR on my Quest3. Unfortunately, the experience was far from ideal. When I increased the resolution, I started encountering lighting artifacts in one eye. Lowering the resolution eliminated the artifacts, but the aliasing became unbearable. Additionally, the constant pop-in of objects made the game practically unplayable for me.
Initially, I suspected the issue was with MotherVR, but I discovered that the flatscreen version also exhibited these artifacts at resolutions above 4k. After digging deeper in the game engine, I think I’ve identified the code responsible for these issues. Today, I can finally share the results of my work.
So in short this mod aims to provide a smoother and visually enhanced gameplay experience, it has 2 major features (which can be installed seperately):
Remove pop-in of objects and disable LOD: A more immersive environment with consistent object rendering.
Fix high resolution (4k+) rendering: Fixes the visual glitches at higher resolutions, works well with MotherVR.
I hope you enjoy the improvements!
As this is an alpha version, your feedback is greatly appreciated! Feel free to check it out and let me know your thoughts.
Apologies if this is a repeat, but I struggled to find much on getting the MotherVR to work with Steam in 2024.
Given that the PSVR2 PC Compatibility has probably brought a few players over to the PC, I thought I would share my method of getting this to work! The mod works on the assumption that the folder location is "AlienIsolation", so that's exactly what we need to achieve.
Exit Steam
Locate and open the file "appmanifest_214490" (located in \Steam\steamapps)
Make sure the game folder within Steam is also titled "Alien isolation"
Open Steam and run the game!
Once the mod has installed, you'll need to go through the options in-game to enable SteamVR which will restart the game (note the menus will be in standard theatre mode).
I had an itch for that sweet sweet A:I horror this month, so I returned to the it once again planning to experience the game through the lens of a VHS tape for added creepiness. I felt like the VHS filter in the Alien Collection reshade pack was really far from what VHS tapes actually look like, though. If anything it's heavily stylized for looks. So I decided to make a new one from scratch using real VHS footage as reference, and I think I managed to make it look authentic enough.
I might post this up on Nexus if anyone's interested. Feedback is also appreciated.
Got some final touches out of the way and posted it just now. https://www.nexusmods.com/alienisolation/mods/82
I'll upload it on ModDB as well when I get the chance. Happy gaming and have a spooky halloween!
OKAY! So I attempted to post this yesterday, and discovered to my horror that a certain New Zealand-based cloud service I frequently use for my photography and foley is banned on Reddit. So here's a nice simple Google Drive link. That should do the trick.
A new, improved and I believe wholly immersive version of my black and white ReShade preset is now available to download (for free) HERE! If you ever wanted the black and white experience, feel free to give this a try. If you come across any issues, please do let me know.
Please remember, if your monitor is on anything less than maximum brightness setting, you will not benefit from the preset quite so much. The same goes for Night Light.
The only drawback I have come across throughout the entire game is in the Sevastopol Works Archive room in which you find the flight recorder, there is a lack of contrast between the greenlit shelving units (allowing movement) and the orange lit (stationary) units. There is a difference, but it's tiny. I tried correcting that and it worked to the detriment of the rest of the visuals. First three shelving units to your immediate right from the table.
i wish there was a mod for more people/interactions between the alien and whats lest of Sevastopol. like I get why it wouldn't attack the working joes, and why the working joes don't attack it, but sometimes I just want there to be more walking blood bags so I can watch as the working joes beat them up, and the aliens drag them away. i know its called alien isolation, but I really wish we had gotten a DLC of early on, where we can watch people getting snatched up and slashed more often.
Can someone port both model and texture of Catherine foster in space to gmod or sfm, since im new to porting model to gmod. I remember used opencage to export the model amd texture but unfortunately when i click the model file, in the models viewer showing the model is incorrect place.
I am currently trying to get MotherVR to work on Windows 11 using Steam. I have tried the symbolic link thing, changing the name in the app manifest, changing the name in the file itself, and messing with the MotherVR.json file, however whenever I launch the game (with the -steamvr launch setting), the MotherVR option is nowhere to be found in the options menu. Is there a surefire fix yet, or do I need to try these methods again?
i bought alien isolation yesterday off of steam for a birthday gift and wanted to give myself a thrill by playing it in vr but today i was installing it and went through the steps of installing it and when i launched the game the options were theyre in the settings and when i played the game it was just flat screen no vr or anything i was in steam vr my theater mode is turn off it did the symbolic link and nothing has worked im on windows 11 which is why i did the symbolic link but every time i would reinstall the version of mothervr nothing worked even older versions of the mod and nothing worked someone please help me stop this madness
I'm most likely only gonna play 1 playthrough, so does the mod provide a better overall experience than the vanilla? Also what other mods should I use (QoL, graphics)?
I’m looking to see if there’s a way to remove both the head bobbing and screen shaking effects. Anyone used to poking around OPENCage or the data files know where I might find these settings? It's not a motion sickness thing - I'm just trying to capture some videos for a project and they'd work better without these effects.
