Sometimes I wonder why these type of people can still get a job.

That's no problem. They even got into politics. The republican party is lit in terms of Forklifting.

Oh, look, the idiot brigade that politicizes everything is here.

Are you so dense you don't realize that was a response to someone starting the political bs?

u/mandatedvirus 1d ago
Are you so dense that you didn't realize you are just feeding into it?

u/classy-muffin 1d ago
Now not to be that guy, but what makes what you're doing any different? Are you not doing the exact same thing?

I'm just calling it out. I'm not posting polarizing memes or images. Suck it.

That could not have turned out any worse; every decision made was the incorrect one.

u/axis1331 23h ago
Based on most forklift videos I've seen, this could have definitely turned out way worse. Thought we were going to get a human pancake when it started to roll backward.

u/GuitarCFD 21h ago
I mean from the evidence we're given here. There was nothing more than superficial damage to either vehicle and the guy lost not body parts. This went as good as it could have gone given how stupid this guy is.

The real question is why this forklift doesn't have sensors under the seat. it should stop driving 2-3 seconds after getting off the seat
17
u/Padgetts-Profile 1d ago
Yeah the dead man brake is either faulty or has been bypassed.
16
u/Normadus 1d ago
The parking brake doesn't work either, or idiot decided not to use it lol
12
u/Recitinggg 1d ago
You can see his hand go towards the parking brake lever and move it, either just missed or it’s faulty like you said.

u/too_late_to_abort 1d ago
Lots and lots of forklifts still chugging along that don't have deadman switches.
I work for a large industrial supply company and we have 8 forklifts in my immediate area and 4 of them don't have a deadman switch.

No it doesn't happen to me. The struggles I face are avoidable, just like this guys. That's what I meant lol

How did he spend that much time on the forklift after going back to it and not put the handbrake on, what an imbecile.

I am not forklift certified so I don't know for sure but surely to god these things must have a parking brake.
As for the boat trailer, aren't you supposed to keep the triangle blocks under the wheels until after you get it hooked up to whatever is gonna be pulling it?

u/throwawaytrumper 1d ago
I’m more of a heavy equipment operator and don’t usually operate little forklifts but every single self driven machine I’ve operated has had a parking brake.
You can tell by this guy wearing sandals, no hard hat or high vis that he’s a stone cold professional who’s evolved past the need for ppe.

Wouldn’t it be cool if forklifts would apply the brake if there is no one in the seat? Just a thought.

The 80’s training video music makes it.
“If the handbrake on a tow motor or other equipment fails, always remember to park a boat in its direction of travel, to prevent a runaway situation. If you don’t have a boat, stop work and speak to a supervisor immediately”

I'm trying to understand how the forklift rolls when nobody is in it. I've driven forklifts and none ever moved unless someone is pressing the pedal.
1
u/ThrowawayHowitgoes 1d ago
Pretty sure they forgot the parking break, and could have put the lift in park, or neutral. Would have avoided this whole mishap.

It takes .5 seconds to pull the parking brake lever down. I do it almost habitually even when I know im on level ground. Mf just leaving the shit in neutral

Yeah dudes an idiot but that's the worst fork lift I've ever seen. Every fork I've ever driven dies if no ass is in the seat
