Why phones with physical buttons? Is it a preference thing?

I recently heard non physical buttons are cheaper to produce so companies prefer them. Not sure on the validity of that 2 u/Appropriate372 3d ago The cost of buttons is negligible for a phone. Its pennies. The issue is size. There is a lot of demand for maximizing screenspace while minimizing size and weight. Touch screens are the logical outcome.
