Other! Help on explaining series?

I'm coming from F1 and DTM.

I'm trying to watch the 2023 series before starting the 2024 just to get affiliated with everything.

I'm a bit confused when I'm watching the whole 2023 playlist on youtube. There's the TransAm TA/XGT/SGT/GT race, and then the Big Machine Vodka Spiked Coolers TA2. What exactly is that and the difference between them? Is it similar to F1 and the other being F2? Or are both of equal levels?

Pretty much like you said, TA (TA1) is the top, TA2 below that, and then the others (which I think at this point are just some older GT3 and GT4 cars). But, differing from most series, I'd say TA2 has the best competition/overall driver skill.

TA1 cars are some of the wildest racing machines out there. Beautifully handbuilt chassis running 800+hp with manuals and no assists.

TA2 cars are a bit more of a "spec" series sorta thing. Same engines, all very similar chassis with different bodies, bit less power, but probably on a whole has a higher level of driver skill.

TA2 is the feeder series (lots of up and coming IMSA and NASCAR drivers have driven TA2 cars recently), TA1 and the others are more for gentlemen/oldschool drivers still just looking to have fun.
