Stadsboerderij 't Waaygat has sand now as well. And a lot of it.

Sand is much cheaper to maintain than grass, never needs cutting or sun too.

It was artificial turf

Artificial turf doesn't last forever, only 10-20 years; made from old tires it's toxicity is unsuitable for toddlers while stains can be indelible (permanent, can't be removed).

Ik ken niet. They also put this sand on top of soft padding on the children's playground ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Cruyff was weliswaar een goede voetballer, maar komt riant uit het verkeerde dorp en is al een tijdje dood, net zoals dat gras dus. Een Aad Mansveld veldje zou het beter doen.
English translation: Although Cruyff was a very good soccer-player, he was born in the wrong village and he is already dead for some time, hence the state of the grass. An Aad Mansveld soccerfield will do much better over here.

Because Den Haag is een badplaats we prefer zand more dan gras.
