Meta - Standard Voting PSA: Stop Insulting The Competition.

Too many times in this sub have I seen posts that put the other side down.

For example: "I hate (thing) and if you disagree you're fucking retarded."

While obviously exaggerated, my point still stands. It's perfectly okay if you hate (thing). It's NOT okay to tell people to go fuck themselves if they disagree.

Believe it or not, if you insult someone, they'll probably not want to listen to you.

TL;DR, Don't be an asshole.

I am generally speaking inclined to agree with this, however I freely make a few exceptions:

  1. when a post is clearly against what I perceive the spirit of this sub to be. If a post is incredibly boring (about food preferences) or isn't really that rare of an idea, I reserve the right to shit all over OP, and downvote him even though I disagree.
  2. when an opinion is really vile, like people talking about how racism is dead or Trump is cool. In those cases I reserve the right to shit all over OP.

In these cases, it's important to report.

I have a standing rule against talking with moderators - no good for me ever comes out of it. Besides, those guys are busy, why get them involved when the community itself is more than capable of self-moderating with downvotes and borderline emotional abuse?
