WSIB: Story games that aren’t slow
Cyberpunk is my perfect example. Incredible story from the start, 0 required filler, and side quests that are better than some entire games in both story telling and gameplay.
Firewatch is another simpler example with no gameplay. But again the pacing of the story was good. Any waiting time was part of the story and it doesn’t feel like time is wasted.
I played Nier: Replicant and Nier: Automata and the story and lore was incredible for me. The pacing here wasn’t as good as Cyberpunk, but again there isn’t required filler for the most part. At least with Automata even playing routes A-E I was able to experience everything in 20-25 hours just focusing on the main story.
Finally some unconventional “story” games were Ori and Celeste which I didn’t even expect to have a story, but it did have a decent story that was interlaced into excellent gameplay for really good pacing,
I tried Witcher 3 and RDR2, but both games were just way too slow for me. The gameplay is not nearly good enough to make the slow pace bearable for me and the story doesn’t click with me enough to keep myself engaged. I found myself forcing myself to continue compared to the other games on this list where I couldn’t put it down.
I’m looking for a game where I can play just on the weekends or binge to the end and get to experience a story at a good pace. I don’t want to need to spend an hour grinding or an hour walking back and forth and not learning anything new.

I really like Dragons Dogma 2. Played through the game twice, really enjoyed it.
