Here it is: The black mirror is finally reflected.
You may recall an episode where a society exists solely to pedal bicycles and enter a talent show. They either become musicians or pornstars if they win a public talent show. The protagonist of the episode becomes enraged at the system and protests the suffering that they are all subjected to in front of the masses and he threatens to kill himself with a blade of glass. The hosts celebrate his message and offer him an exclusive opportunity to perform his protest as a form of entertainment. In the end, he takes the deal and becomes part of the system which he despises so much and becomes a hypocrite, repeating his protest only to maintain his elevated status in society.
Instead of actually attempting to change the status quo, he succumbs to the temptation of luxury and becomes just as delusional as the rest of the upper class. Ben Shapiro is the same as this protagonist.
In the beginning, he was elevated into the public media through his witty defense of the Boys-Only policy of the Boy Scouts of America. After this, he was funneled into a demographic that was amenable to these views, which just so happened to be conservative media focused on attacking liberalism. Eventually his messages become less pragmatic and more centered around "liberal extremism."
These messages were welcomed up until the assassination of the United Healthcare CEO, where Shapiro has linked the murder to the "Radical Left." When in reality, this event has been viewed as an issue of wealth disparity and not an issue of political agenda. Shapiro stating that this event is a result of leftist extremism reveals that he only speaks the words that he believes will maintain his status in society and not the words that he truly feels, which destroys the facade that he represents the people who follow him.
Shapiro has revealed that he is an entertainer, no different than Shakira or Mia Khalifa. The only reason he is in front of the screen is because he says the things the hosts of his media outlet want him to say. He is no longer sincere, he is no longer a voice of the people.
