Map of free motorcycle parking

Crosspost from /r/sacramento . Thanks to /u/bamasoh for a pointer to this sub!

I know with this weather it's not exactly the best motorcycle riding time, but I just found this map of the free motorcycle parking spots around midtown/downtown I made a while back. Feel free to use, and let me know if I missed any spots, or if any of these spots have been removed!

Meetup Any Can-Am Ryker folks around town?

I bought a Ryker back in September (brain damage, not comfortable on two wheels anymore) and have yet to meet anyone to ride with, as a matter of fact I've seen three since I bought mine. Are there any groups or something around Sacramento that cater to the Ryker crowd? I hate riding with bikes because I can't split lanes I've met a Spyder group but didn't care for the way they did rides (single file and super close like it was a parade, it honestly felt more dangerous than everyone bouncing around like fools) and They were all 20 years older than me and I don't have my AARP card. Anyone 50 under on a Ryker around here? I'm sort of getting bored riding by myself.

Help 1983 Honda Goldwing - light work needed

Hi Sac Moto! I’m hoping to find some help locating someone who can help put finishing touches on my partner’s motorcycle. He has a 1983 Goldwing but it’s been significantly modified.

He called Vintage Monkey about 2 years ago and their waitlist was over a year long. They referred us to Kickstart Garage in Millville, CA. That was helpful but the mechanic kept the bike for about a year and did 35 hours of work on it during that whole time. It was frustrating to say the least. Once we got it back, my partner noticed that it was not fully finished, sadly.

I would like to find a place to get this finished for my partner. He needs the license plate holder purchased and installed, needs fairings, and some work on the brakes, and maybe a few more things. It isn’t a huge amount of work.

I’m attaching a copy of the invoice from KickStart Garage for folks to see what has been done already, and a pic of the bike in its current form.

Thank you to this community for any assistance and quality shop recommendations you can share. I’m desperate to help get it finished.

ST900 Road Trip

Going to be doing a pacific coast trip from San Diego along the PCH up to Canadian Border and back. I have a 2023 Speed Twin 900. I have 20L saddlebags and a rear rack. Probably going to do a mix of moto camping and motels. Any recommendations for bike kits/mods or gear for the trip? Thanks

Motorcycle Shops

Hello All - I just moved here from SoCal and am having some issues with my Harley. Can you folks recommend a reliable (and not too expensive) motorcycle shop? Anywhere in Sacramento and surrounding areas is fine. Thanks

The wind here is crazy

I bought a 300 for a daily commuter. Don't have to go far, just 7 miles on Highway 50, like 3x/week. But it's barely worth it? I feel like im gonna get pushed over no matter how slow the apps says the wind is! Maybe I should upgrade to a heavier 600?

What do you guys think?

Looking to borrow a SealMate to clean fork oil seal.

Looking for a SealMate tool or a knockoff. I understand they are easy to make on your own but I avoid bringing plastic into my home, so I don't have any scrap to make one.

An afternoon quickie...what are your favorite routes?

When you only have an hour or so after work or something and you want to get a short-ish ride in, where do you like to point your bike? I'm thinking scenic and/or fun twisty routes not totally jammed with traffic. Does such a thing exist?

I want to become a motorcycle mechanic

I want to follow my dream of becoming a Motorcycle Mechanic.

Hello Friends. I am veteran who just separated from the military. I want to pursue my dream of becoming a motorcycle mechanic. I have searched in Google but it looks like the only schools that offers a certification or Associates is San Francisco Community College. I signed up for the class but they canceled it the day it started not real explanation as to why. I tried again last semester but it was again canceled. I have looked high an low for a place where I can learn and found Moto guild but its doesn't appear that they go to much in depth in the training. I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can provide. I would love to be a certified technician and help my fellow riders. Thank you in advance. I don't mind Community if 2 or 3 hours if that is what it takes but it there is a place in Sacramento that would be great.

Update:

I had a job interview with a dealership and I might be able getting an entry level technician position. I want to say thank you to all of you for your suggestions and support. I will keep you posted if I get the job. Wish me luck

Splitting Lanes Going to Arden

Anyone else hate splitting lanes on the freeway on the way to Arden? The concrete is so busted that my bike always bobs and wobbles whenever I lane split.

Help Leather tailor?

I've got an old Alpinestars leather jacket that I love, but wearing an airbag under it makes it fit a little weird. Anyone got a line on a local tailor who can alter it?

Recs for a local custom seat?

I am looking to add some height to my stock V-Strom 650 seat. I was thinking I could have a local upholstery shop take care of it for me. Is anyone familiar with a local business that works on motorcycle seats?

Complete novice, yet completely interested in riding! Is there anyone to help?

I know this sub is pretty dead, but at least we’re here.

22 years old, and have always been interested in riding… Is there anyone willing to teach a complete beginner even just how to ride a bit?

Or should I just learn through an MSF course
