ISO - Recommendations for Winter /Cold Weather Pants

Hi Everyone!

I've got into a very good habit the last 6 months or so of taking my doggo for walks after I get the kids to bed. As the weather has been getting colder, so have I. I've got a nice ski jacket, balaclava, hat, boots, wool socks and mittens, but basically am just wearing jeans below the waist, which get chilly. I simply don't tolerate the cold very well (I keep my home office at about 80 all year).

Does anybody have recommendations for pants I can wear that stand up to snow, wind, and sub-zero temps?

(Edit - Men's pants 🤗)

I need some help here as I have choice paralysis with all the crap on Amazon.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. - My doggo is a great pyrenees mix and loves the cold. He'll sit in our yard and keep watch for hours on the snow.

I'm outdoors with my dog a lot in all temps but don't really run much yet, so with that caveat - I love my xcountry ski pants for the cold. I have the Daehlie Power Pants but I'm sure there are a lot of options.

Last year when we got -30C, those + a merino base layer were perfect. They're good for active use, running around and playing with the dog in snow (including wet snow), and have a rubber grip on the hem to keep snow/cold from getting into your boots.

I really like Duluth Trading Company gear. They have insulated “Flexpedition” pants my husband and I wear constantly to walk the dog once November hits. I can add a base layer and or snow pants once it gets below 20F

I use merino wool long johns under any pant I'm wearing once the weather gets colder. Great breathability! Bought a few pairs branded "minus33" and they've served me very well for over 5 yrs now.

Do yourself a favor and get the fleece-lined merino wool tights from Smartwool.

They have windbreaker material on the front to keep the chill out too. They’re simply incredible. I’ve worn them in -20°F runs multiple times. I can’t wear them unless it’s under 15°F because I’ll overheat.

Lined pants at all what you're after. Depends on how much "running" you're doing. I wear lined Carhartt pants for some outdoors stuff and they wear like jeans, but are super comfortable, if you want to stick to a jean type thing.

Lined sweats or cross country pants are some other keywords to google if you want athletic style pants. Somebody else down here is recommending lined tights and they look awesome, but I bought tights last year and I'm embarrassed to be seen in them. Today (-7) might change my mind.
