Discussion To crack or not to crack
I found this rock with what appears to be a good spot to put a chisel. I've never cracked a rock open before...is this a good one to start with or will it probably be the same inside as out? Help from anyone who knows about cracking open rocks is appreciated. I really don't know what to look for in a good cracking rock. TIA

Discussion Can anyone explain why this petrified wood has a clean shear?
My fave piece of petrified wood found in a paddock in central Queensland. Not sure what caused the shear but you can see the rings in the wood.

Discussion Follow up...To crack or not to crack!
So, for those following my post about cracking this rock open, I'm sorry for the delay. I lost my chisel and was having a tough time getting it to crack. Today I took a ball peen hammer to it today. Same inside as out but now I want to break everything open!

Discussion Petrified wood
I don’t remember where I got this from but it’s petrified wood and it’s a very large and heavy sample. Not sure what to do with it as I’m starting to purge at age 66 to downsize my life. Anybody have an opinion as to its origin?

Discussion Montana Agate
This thing is wild. My in laws have thousands of pounds of rough agate to get rid of. Some of it is sliced and polished. Not sure what the best way to help them get rid of it will be. Think I will try listing some on eBay? Probably keep this chunk for myself though 😬very unique. If anyone can suggest a better way to sell it’d be much appreciated. Also if you can give me anymore insight on this awesome rock

These are a part of my mom's inventory but I don't know where they came from. She said they're called "chicken blood stone."

Discussion My 13 year old rock collection (+ some pinecones and sea shells)
I've been collecting rocks ever since I was 4 these r almost all of them (one bag is missing I'll update u guys when I find them). I was washing them today because they had been kinda dirty. Plus my sisters sea shells cause I thought I'd clean them up for her. These rocks r from many places all over Pakistan and I love each and every one of them like my children.
