Shame on Netanyahu and his constant escalation.

418

u/IcyOrganization5235 Oct 01 '24

No--it's "de-escalation by escalation." -Israeli government

35

u/poopellar Oct 01 '24

Negative times negative is positive, right?

7

u/Marco_Memes Oct 01 '24

It’s like they say, you gotta cause war to make peace!

wait…

6

u/91_til_infinity Oct 01 '24

Stop bombing? No, Escalation!

2

u/squiddlebiddlez Oct 01 '24

War is peace! The best defense is ruthless offense!

128

u/textualcanon Oct 01 '24

I wish Netanyahu hadn’t escalated, but this comment treats Israelis as the only actors with moral agency. It turns out that Hezbollah and Iran are also full of rational people who bear moral blame too.

9

u/Haber_Dasher Oct 01 '24

I mean on the one side we have Israel: genocide in Gaza, ramping up attacks & settlements in West Bank, terror attack in Lebanon, bombing Lebanon, bombing Syria, bombing Yemen, invading Lebanon.

Iran: a ceremonial retaliation & a promise that further escalation will force them to show they have missiles that can get through, which they then follow through on.

1

u/textualcanon Oct 01 '24

I think this response proves my point. You see no moral agency in Hamas or Hezbollah or Iran. Israel is accountable for all its action; these other actors are accountable for none.

-31

u/domthebomb2 Oct 01 '24

That moment when you have the moral blame on the same level as a country committing genocide with the direct support of the most powerful military of all time.

46

u/DwightKurtShrute69 Oct 01 '24

If Iran had the capability and means of committing genocide against Israel they absolutely would and have stated as much. The complete annihilation of Israel has been the Iranian Shia Clergy’s stated core objective for decades. US support of Israel acts as a deterrent to this objective. Wouldn’t expect TikTok or publicfreakout comment section to explain that to you though as I’m sure that’s where you get most of your info about Israel from

-19

u/Bingo_banjo Oct 01 '24

Doesn't make it ok to bulldoze and occupy Palestinian land though

18

u/DwightKurtShrute69 Oct 01 '24

I never said that it did. I was providing a response explaining one of the primary reasons why the US supports Israel so vehemently despite the atrocities of the IDF. Iran will exterminate Israel if they don’t have US support. They are attempting to do so even with Israel currently having US support. Israel not having US support would give Iran the green light to attempt to completely wipe Israel off the map, as it is again the primary stated objective of their regime. The ayatollah has stated that this is their goal many times.

-17

u/domthebomb2 Oct 01 '24

Israel has made it's position on Islam and its neighbors pretty clear.

If I were Israel, maybe I wouldn't intentionally try to antagonize all my neighbors when a foreign power an ocean away is the only reason I exist in the first place.

At what point are countries around Israel allowed to take action? Genuinely curious what people think the line is if it isn't blatant invasion of their neighbors.

10

u/chief_blunt9 Oct 01 '24

And the Islamic nations haven’t made their position clear on Israel??? Crazy

-8

u/domthebomb2 Oct 01 '24

I love how you avoid the actual incongruence between Israel and its neighbors.

At what point are Israel's neighbors allowed to respond to settler expansionism? At what point did European and American powers prop up Islam in the Middle East out of nowhere?

7

u/Hawke64 Oct 01 '24

Fun fact: During the Iran-Iraq War, Iran sent their own schoolchildren to clear out minefields and bound them with ropes to each other so they wouldn’t run away.

-1

u/domthebomb2 Oct 01 '24

Dead brown kids doesn't sound fun at all.

-13

u/samtheninjapirate Oct 01 '24

Iran said at the UN yesterday it two days ago that Hamas and all Arab states will guarantee safety for Israel if they leave Palestine be. Israel said fuck you we're going to invade Lebanon. So....

He was being ironic, escalation never comes from Israel's side

1

u/CarrotChunx Oct 01 '24

He was most certainly not being ironic. Pay better attention, Israel wanted this.

12 children killed as Hezbollah rocket hits soccer field, sparking wider war fears | The Times of Israel

This was on Hezbollah. Don't kill a bunch of Israeli kids if you don't want to get blown up by Israel.

67

u/DieTheVillain Oct 01 '24

Meanwhile the IOF has killed 15,000 Palestinian children as of June 2024...

"Nearly 15,000 other children in Gaza have been killed since the war began on Oct. 7, 2023, according to the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights."

-11

u/CmonTouchIt Oct 01 '24

unfortunately, Hamas employs folks as young as 12

20

u/DieTheVillain Oct 01 '24

unfortunately Israel is bombing infants that are younger than 12 last i checked.

9

u/punkfusion Oct 01 '24

14 pages of names that were 0-1 years old

9

u/DieTheVillain Oct 01 '24

Must have been Hamas super soldiers.

-3

u/CmonTouchIt Oct 01 '24

oh its absolutely true that kids younger than 12 are dying. but unfortunately, Hamas is committed to maximizing casualty counts, specifically to engender emotional responses from westerners who cant fathom context or nuance

and its working, sadly

-36

u/FinalWarningRedLine Oct 01 '24

The UN has since admitted they lied and reported 2x the actual number...

Fact Check: Did UN Halve Gaza Death Toll? - Newsweek

40

u/DieTheVillain Oct 01 '24

You are misreading that.

The relevant part is here. emphasis mine.

""Out of those, then out of that smaller number, that subset of identified bodies, you have 7,797 children, 4,959 women, 1,924 elderly and 10,006 men.

""Meanwhile, as you can see, if you do the math, that there's about another 10,000-plus bodies who still have to be fully identified."

"The number of deaths in Gaza reported by the U.N. has not been halved."

Not doubled like you claim.

New figures, that broke down the number of fully identified and documented deaths, were published by the U.N. on May 8 along with the number of reported fatalities from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, whose figures the U.N. says are proven to be "generally accurate."

"The smaller number of fully identified deaths was thought by some to mean the total figure had been revised, in some cases by half, which the U.N. has denied and clarified."

Nice try though, try again.

but lets just say for the sake of argument... would 7,797 dead children be ok with you?

35

u/CrashTestOrphan Oct 01 '24

They know, they're a bad-faith actor spreading propaganda on behalf of an ongoing genocide by the state of Israel.

26

u/DieTheVillain Oct 01 '24

Oh I am aware, which is why I took the time to rebut their ridiculous propaganda.

13

u/CrashTestOrphan Oct 01 '24

Good on ya for that!

28

u/Szygani Oct 01 '24

Oh thank goodness, the IDF only killed seven thousand and five hundred children.

17

u/A_Rolling_Baneling Oct 01 '24

And how many kids have been killed by Israel? Why did they start bombing Yemen? Why are they destroying civilian areas in Lebanon?

4

u/Acrobatic-Event2721 Oct 01 '24

The slogan of the Houthi movement, a Shia Islamist political and military organization in Yemen, reads “God Is the Greatest, Death to America, Death to Israel, A Curse Upon the Jews, Victory to Islam”

8

u/slimkay Oct 01 '24

Re: Yemen, Houthis have been lobbing missiles at them, and have also been sinking ships in the Red Sea in support of Israel’s opponents.

-18

u/FinalWarningRedLine Oct 01 '24

Sounds like both Israel, Iran, and all the Iranian proxies suck.... or do you just blame the jews?

Both sides in this conflict are terrible.

5

u/Szygani Oct 01 '24

or do you just blame the jews?

As a jew, I'd rather not take the blame for between 8 thousand to 15 thousand children being killed by bombings. I'd rather blame a government, like Israel's

-2

u/FinalWarningRedLine Oct 01 '24

Also as a Jew...i'd like to see Israel held accountable but not be the only terrible government called out for their crimes.

There's a massive discrepancy between calls for Israel to be punished vs calls for Russia, Iran, DPRK, Sudan, etc to be punished.

Why does the UN mostly condemn Israel and rarely the rest?

While Israel's right-wing government is absolutely criminal, there is also clear antisemitism and selective bias at play here.

0

u/Szygani Oct 01 '24 edited Oct 01 '24

There’s a significant discrepancy in how international condemnation is applied to different countries, but it's important to understand that this is likely not due to antisemitism.

"There's a massive discrepancy between calls for Israel to be punished vs calls for Russia, Iran, DPRK, Sudan, etc to be punished."

While Russia, Iran, and North Korea (DPRK) have long been under scrutiny and subject to heavy sanctions, Israel has historically enjoyed strong backing from the international community, particularly from countries like the United States and various Western nations. Since its establishment in 1948, Israel has received considerable diplomatic and military support, which has often shielded it from the level of international condemnation applied to other states, even during times of conflict

However, there is definitely a selective bias when it comes to how these situations are handled.

"Selective bias at play here."

This bias can stem from geopolitical alliances and interests. For instance, Sudan (specifically, South Sudan) is the world’s youngest country, having gained independence in 2011, and its complex internal conflicts haven’t garnered as much sustained international attention compared to Israel or Russia. North Korea has long been considered a pariah state and faces extensive international sanctions, but it’s less involved in the broader regional dynamics that make Israel’s actions a global focal point.

Israel, on the other hand, has been in conflict with its neighbors since its establishment in 1948. Over the decades, while Israel has sometimes acted as the instigator or aggressor in these conflicts, it has received considerable support from the international community, particularly from countries like the United States and various Western powers. This backing has often insulated Israel from the kind of widespread sanctions or consequences that are applied to other states.

Recently, however, international criticism of Israel has grown, especially concerning its policies towards the Palestinians and its continued occupation of the West Bank and the blockade of Gaza. Organizations like the United Nations, as well as various human rights groups, have increasingly called for accountability and condemned Israeli actions, but Israel continues to receive substantial diplomatic and military support from key allies.

12

u/A_Rolling_Baneling Oct 01 '24

Israel has caused significantly more civilian death, including children, than their enemies. Saying "both sides suck" obfuscates the scale of their crimes.

I am not defending Iran or "blaming the jews" (wtf). Your comment was specifically highlighting a Hezbollah attack as if it was justification for Israel's war behaviour, as if Israel has not done a hundred times worse in this very conflict.

-1

u/CAPTAIN__CAPSLOCK Oct 01 '24

This comment reeks of bias. Children from one are as precious as children from another, if you think any other way you are a clueless savage.

-7

u/RAGGA_MUFFIN Oct 01 '24

Those are Druze syrian kids in occupied galilee. They were not israeli and actually the Druze refused israeli citizenship... they are occupied. https://apnews.com/article/israel-lebanon-hezbollah-war-druze-iran-hamas-cd1005be55b3893f0852e431643899bd

10

u/FinalWarningRedLine Oct 01 '24

Majority of Druze in Israel consider themselves Israeli... but good job trying to misidentify their nationality using their religion....

1

u/RAGGA_MUFFIN Oct 05 '24

Possibly, but those 12 were not israeli.

2

u/goldistastey Oct 01 '24

How are hezbollah or iran forced to fight israel? They attack israel because they want to.

-12

u/GoodDawgy17 Oct 01 '24

ah yes netanyahu ordered 400 ballistic missiles to be sent from iran to israel

*looks at notes*

he also ordered hamas to invade israel for the first time since 1948

also ordered the terrorists to use children as body shields

3

u/re_carn Oct 01 '24

he also ordered hamas to invade israel for the first time since 1948

No irony: I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be true.

1

u/AshingiiAshuaa Oct 01 '24

I ran out of soap in the shower this morning. That, too, is undoubtedly his fault.

-11

u/caca-casa Oct 01 '24

Who fired on who first tho.

32

u/rightdeadzed Oct 01 '24

A Neanderthal 80,000 years ago if you wanna go back that far.

16

u/XSC Oct 01 '24

Fuck that guy

-3

u/caca-casa Oct 01 '24

Cute straw-man.

Wild how short spanned the til-tok-brained’s attentions spans are these days. Did people already forget the first barrage of Iranian rockets months ago… or was Israel supposed to let them hit just to prove a point of the severity of the attack?

Are Hamas and Hezbollah not direct iranian proxies used exclusively by Iran to carry out constant attacks on Israel?

Strange logic happening in bizzarro world over here.

7

u/ajn63 Oct 01 '24

Talk about short attention span.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '24

I mean, technically, the British.

-32

u/BornWithSideburns Oct 01 '24

Shame on iran for its constant escalation

6

u/--404--- Oct 01 '24

You sure it ain't Israel that's escalating by attacking 3 different regions at once?

-15

u/J2-SD Oct 01 '24 edited Oct 01 '24

Yup. Iran has the right to defend itself.

20

u/theekumquat Oct 01 '24

How has Iran been attacked?

-1

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '24

[deleted]

1

u/theekumquat Oct 01 '24

Exactly, just pointing out that admitting Iran has been "attacked" is admitting its puppeteering of Hezbollah.

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '24

u/Bighurt2335 Oct 01 '24

They got missile attacked by Iran in April and did nothing.

14

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '24 edited Oct 01 '24

That bombing was a retaliation also to Netanyahu's blood lust, escalation and illegal attack of an embassy to murder two Iranian Generals.
