Social Gets too emotional looking at less privileged ones!

Growing up I belonged to a very lower middle class family. Did not have ANY assets, no plot no house no land no gold no car I mean nothing. Just food, clothes, a bike and education. My parents managed to get us siblings get good education by entirely help of our relatives abroad/ scholarships. Till the age of 26, I have been a bit close to the less privileged people. I was an engineer so at the mills i used to work there were labourers i had to manage/work with. At the worst one among the two mills i worked at, i even lived at work in a room with 2 labour boys (barely 18). I used to travel by chingchi rikshaw with less privileged people ALL THE TIME. I used to buy things from these open thylas and little shops to interacted with them. Used to see toddlers literally WORKING at all these places. Fast forward, after the age of 27, I just lets say became well off. Switched my career to IT and also went to canada and got a good job. My brother back here is also a very highly paid It professional. So i bought a nice car, have money to buy whatever we want the the stores, we eat anywhere we want etc etc. NOW, when i see those less privileged people, I get way toooo much emotional, to the point where i start daydreaming that what will happen to this little kid, he has no idea how many harships are in his way. Do I deserve all this that i have got? What will happen to this 12 yo girl selling toys on the road? I get toooooo emotional and my next 1 hour is ruined and spent thinking about them. Does this happen to others? What can make it better for me ? Donate them? Of course i can give them enough for a meal. But what tomorrow? What will happen the next day when i wont be here?

They have again raised the price of Social Plus Offer to Rs 580. One month ago they raised it to rs530 and i emailed them that i am a lawyer and this price hike is illegal and ill initiate legal proceeding against them. Just check their audacity, that they raised it again. I had enough and i have initiated the process. I know one thing if we sit and ignore them, they'll just keep raising them without caring. My fellow reddittors never let your rights be violated easily. Otherwise, everyone will biolate them.

Discussion Why do Pakistani women not use their right to fill the blank spaces in the clauses of the marriage contract with their own terms ? And those who do, how did your relatives/in-laws react ?

So Paki men are quick to accept the dowry with open arms, but then why don't women use their rights and write their own terms and conditions on the clauses on the marriage contract that are left empty and cut with big ink marks with terms such as no second marriage for the man, or for the woman to use her right to divorce or other such stuff ? Why do you put cut on those portions and why is it frowned upon in our society to literally use a "right" with witnesses present to secure her marriage and avoid various kinds deceptions and problems later on ? Those who did fill those empty blanks, how did it go, what was your husband and in-laws' reaction ? Could be for men too, if they fill or not fill those empty blanks

Discussion Show theft in masjid

My Husband’s shoes were stolen from the local Masjid today at Friday prayer. I tried to console him that the person may have accidentally taken his shoes, but my Mom told me it’s commonplace in Pakistan to have shoes stolen during prayer. My Husband ended up walking home barefoot, in the rain and cold.

I’m wondering why the Masjid’s in Pakistan haven’t thought of a solution to the shoe theft problem if it’s commonplace there?

Social New dad here, excited for this journey! Any advice on raising a newborn and supporting my wife during these early days

Hi everyone,

I’m a new dad, and my little girl is only 4 days old! It’s an amazing feeling to be a father, and I’m loving every moment of it, but I’m also learning a lot as I go.

I’m looking for some advice from experienced parents about the Do's and Don’ts during these early days with my newborn. What are the key things I should be focusing on to be the best dad I can be? What are some common mistakes to avoid? Any tips on handling the sleepless nights, bonding with my daughter and supporting my partner as well?

Speaking of which, I’m doing my best to keep my wife as comfortable as possible during this time, but I’d love any suggestions on how I can better support her emotionally and physically in these early days. She’s been amazing, and I want to make sure she’s feeling cared for too.

Thanks in advance, and I’m excited to be part of this parenting journey!

Discussion HELP A BROTHER OUT!

Upvotes

WHAT CAN I DO?

I am a full time student but lately its getting difficult. I am pursuing chartered accountancy and i am in the initial stages. My classes are from 10 am in the morning till 6 in the evening. Theres barely enough time to study. I currently don’t acquire any skill but i really want to do something online and get financially independent. I am ashamed of asking my parents for money and as a teenager where everyone is independent, i feel wasted. In Pakistan and the region where i live, there are also not enough jobs that i can pursue physically.

Does anyone have any suggestions, please feel free to guide. It would be of great help.

Education Excerpt from a convocation speech

I side with no party in Pakistan because I believe no one is actually working in the interests of Pakistan including the forces. Giving this disclaimer here because some may be curious to know what line do I toe. Anyway, this is one more example of how desperately we need educated and cultured people to lead our country. It is unfortunate that the university invited him of all people to give an “inspiring” speech as graduates head out into the practical world. No doubt he shared some realities but the speaker should be someone that students can aspire to.

Social Society really messes you up subconsciously

I hate it when i meet some relatives and the first thing they say is: beta boht kamzor ho gae ho. But recently i met a friend of mine and the first thing i said to him was: yar tu boht patla ho gaya hai. I almost body shamed him. When i came back home, i analyzed what i said and came to a conclusion that the society changes you in the ways you dont even know about. It's all happening subconsciously in the background. The entirety of our experiences even the early childhood ones keep on affecting us throughout our lives but it's good as long as we're holding ourselves accountable

Ask Pakistan Best Gold rate in Makkah

Upvotes

For Pakistanis living in Makkah, I came here on Umrah, I am thinking of taking back some gold for my mom, can anyone tell me what is the best area for purchasing gold? Where the making charges are minimum. I asked from a shop or two in Haram, I think the making rates there are higher because of the area.

Sights Today a loota was stuck on a cat's head.

On some street, then I pulled the thing up, it was still stuck. Then when I left it, the cat fell with it's stuck head touching the ground and suddenly it went free. Then I told my friend to destroy that loota.

Waste managment is something very important in a society. We must not mess up our countries this way.

The cat could've died, it could be a broken glass or a blade or something toxic just lying on a random street in Pakistan. Be careful and dont throw trash on the roadside.
