I have the Collective Minds charging stand and it's been great
I highly highly recommend the Globular Cluster Comfort mod, it was essential for me
I also use a Kiwi VR pulley system (only need 2 of the supplied 6 pulleys) to keep the cable and PS5 safe, really helpful imo
The other thing I have is prescription lens inserts from VR Rock which are excellent and slightly better than the other brand I tried (HonsVR)
I already wear glasses so have lots of cleaning cloths...I've never used any fluid to clean the lenses at all.

- Lens protectors are critical. Leaving aside scratches and wear and tear, the anti glare coating coming off is a real thing. I purchased from VROptician and they are fantastic.
- Don’t get any cleaning fluids. Microfibre cloths only.
- Charging stand is a real QOL upgrade.
Rest you can pick up later if you need it.

Hey! Super late reply but do you notice any changes to the clarity through the lens protectors? I’ve had my headset since launch and I’ve taken VERY good care of it but some horror stories have got me worried lol. Just wondering if the quality is better without the lenses or if it really makes no difference in your opinion!

u/Mr_Nice_Cube Sep 16 '24
If you have even the smallest prescription, it will make a massively positive difference. If you have 20:20 vision, the difference in clarity will be negligible. As the lens covers stick out from the lens’ about a cm, one change is you will likely need to readjust the positioning using the front button to pull it out from your face one click or so - meaning there is a tiny bit more light seepage in from the outside if you are playing in bright sunlight.
But nothing too noticeable.
The QOL upgrade of being able to micro fibre your lens covers before use without any prangs of FUD is worth it alone.

If you have others in your house that will use the PSVR2 headset, then I recommend getting something other than earbuds. Earbuds are fine for single person use, but gross when shared.
Globular Cluster has headphones that fit as if they were designed for the headset as well.

Aside from what you mentioned above:
- Instead of a lens protector, i'd recommend a pairs of lens inserts (at least one plano for guests and one prescription if you wear glasses. I got HonsVR). They will also protect the headset's lenses from humidity and oil smudges, you'll only need to clean the insert most of the time.
- lens cleaner? I'm not sure what you mean by that. You only need a dry microfiber cloth, clean them gently. They have a coating that's not too hard to peel off.
- a cable clip for the extension cable
- Note that not all extension cables are compatible with psvr2. Carefully read the product information. I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Extension-Extender-Nintendo-MacBook/dp/B08NTCD6VQ?crid=26X1HIWOFUTND&keywords=B08NTCD6VQ&sprefix=b08ntcd6vq%2Caps%2C162&sr=8-1&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl&th=1

Is the longer one ok, or should i stick with a 1.5 foot one? Ive heard that extending it too long causes issues.
3
u/Chronotaru PSN: Chronotaru Jul 31 '24
The longer you go, the bigger a chance it will cause issues sometimes. Mine is 1.8m and it's not been a problem. The longest anyone has gone is 2m. 3m has never ever worked. Buy extensions designed for Thunderbolt 4, and hopefully that will provide the highest chances of success.

u/Violent_Volcano Jul 31 '24
Ill give it a shot with the normal cable first and see how far it goes. Lol i just got it in the mail like 4 hours ago. Still working so ill mess with it a bit later when the controllers have a good charge. It just looks like ill need another foot or 2 on it, so im planning ahead. Def want to replace those weird earbuds, though, so a 3d pulse set is probably next. I've just never liked them and if you want to show it to a friend its kind of gross

u/Chronotaru PSN: Chronotaru Jul 31 '24
Sure, the most important thing is to get rid of that massive leverage on the USB-C port, not the length.
2
u/PanTsour Jul 31 '24
It's true that the cable shouldn't be too long. It should be up to 1m long, so the 3.3 ft option should be good. 1.5 feet is 0.45 meters, you might find it too short depending on where you keep your ps5. I have the 3.3 ft one and it's barely enough for the tv storage i'm using
3
u/Violent_Volcano Jul 31 '24
Thanks, I'll give it a shot. My setup is interesting. My ps5 is like 3 feet from a pullup bar i installed a few months ago so i can just put a little plastic cable guide on the wall next to my ps5 and loop it around the bar so it stays out of the way.

Regarding the cleaning supplies, I was mainly inquiring about brand that people prefer. For the cable extender, as u/Violent_Volcano stated, is the longer one OK or should people stick to the shorter one?
Edit: The longer option here is fine. But I won't push it. I saw a post a day or so ago about a magnetic breakaway adapter, do these work and can anyone recommend one?
2
u/PanTsour Jul 31 '24
the 3.3 ft one is ok. The cable shouldn't be longer than 1 meter in general. the shorter cable might end up being too short if you keep your ps5 on a tv storage so it's better to go with the 3.3 ft one just to be safe.
2
u/Monkeymatt2121 Jul 31 '24
I’ve read everywhere that 2m/6ft (which I’ve ordered) works perfectly fine, are you saying that’s not correct?
2
u/PanTsour Jul 31 '24
I've talked to people on the sub and most importantly with technicians, they all recommended me to go for a cable that's not longer than 1 meter. Data transfers on these consoles are incredibly fast and demanding and faults on those transfers could even fry your device in the long run. An extra meter is already a stretch but it provides the best balance of safety and utility.
2
u/Monkeymatt2121 Jul 31 '24
Right, but are you saying the 2m/6ft cables have issues or don’t work? Because I legit got this info from this sub, but now I’m worried. 😂
2
u/PanTsour Jul 31 '24
People are talking based on their experience. The people I've talked to and that I trust recommended me to not go over 1 meter with the cable. I'm not entirely sure if this is factual but I wouldn't take the risk, there isn't much difference and the cable of the headset itself is long enough. You don't need a longer extension cable. 2m cables might work, but there's a chance they might damage the headset.
In short, I'd recommend the 1 meter cable.

u/Monkeymatt2121 Jul 31 '24
Seeing as it will be delivered today, I might as well try it out and return if need be. Is there anything in specific I should look for to see if it does or doesn’t work? Obviously no image would be an auto return lol , but anything else you’d say to look for? Appreciate the feedback! 🍻
3
u/PanTsour Jul 31 '24
It will most likely work fine. What I'm saying is that the cable might be too long to the point that it might occasionally mess with the data transfers, which in the long run might fry the headset. You probably won't know something's wrong before that, unless you notice something like poor tracking. It may or may not happen though.

A Carrying case for your PSVR2. Link to one: https://direct.playstation.com/en-us/buy-accessories/powera-storage-case-for-playstationvr2
If you have vision issues, then I recommend getting prescription VR lenses. I ordered mine from VR Optician, with a coupon code from a content creator’s video talking about it. Link to VR lens for a selection of headsets: https://vroptician.com/?coupon=JSkeleton

The carrying case option is a good one. I'll add it to the main post. Thank you!

You’re welcome, I had to buy the case off of Amazon Canada, as PlayStation does not sell directly to us Canadians.

Thank you everyone for your help! I am keeping the main post up to date with the best option. Currently, the lens protectors are a bit of a wild card for me due to price and features. Which do you believe would be the best option?
- VR Rock - $68.90 (Magnetic)
- HonsVR - $40.85
- VROptician - $65.55

VR Optician, they are from Germany. I know that the Prescription lenses uses Zeiss lenses. Not sure about the Plano lenses though. Earlier I provided a link to VR Optician with a coupon code, in my main comment about the storage case.

I have been using Aliexpress lenses on my Quest 3 and PS VR2. Most prescription lenses come from China anyway. Got both sets for less than $30 in a week from China to east coast US.

Is the listed case large enough for the headset with the CMP2 attached? Seems a bit tight with the default padding.
Anyone have both that can comment?
1
u/AZ4Fun Aug 21 '24
Hey did you manage to find an answer to this? Just found this thread searching for the exact same question
2
u/Wagglesworthy Aug 22 '24
It stays on well enough. The back padding raises the back up, but not enough to make the headset fall off the stand. It’s a touch precarious, but not enough to worry me.
As an aside, if you combine that with collective minds’ headphone accessory, the headset will not stay on the base. I unclip the headphones and set them on top of the headset and everything stays where it should.
1
u/AZ4Fun Aug 22 '24
Thanks man, appreciate you!
2
u/Wagglesworthy Aug 22 '24
Oh hold on a sec, i skimmed and assumed this was a comment about the charger base.
The case, i have not tried. But you need a good charger base and stand, the collective minds stand listed above is a good buy.
I have not purchased the case, but decided that it already looked tight enough, and probably would not fit any extra attachments, so i didn’t buy it.

* any plano or prescription lenses - magnetic if you're going to switch them out regularly - the quality on VROptician is top notch but they're scarily awkward to put in and take out
* lens cleaner - just say no - microfibre cloth washed regularly. on those rare occasions you really need liquid, just a drop of tap water on the cloth.
* USB - I use an extension to protect my USB-C connector - magnetic USB connectors are also an option if you're happy taking your chances breaking USB-C standards
* stand - I used the Sony official one because if something goes wrong I can blame Sony - but it is more fiddly than it needs to be
* comfort accessories - Globular Cluster is most popular, but Devaso white backplate all the way for me. I have the Globular Cluster but it causes pain on my nose and discomfort on my neck when looking up, due to the back band being forced too high
1
u/SaraphXIII Aug 01 '24
I was unable to find a link for the Devaso white backplate, could you provide?
2
u/Chronotaru PSN: Chronotaru Aug 01 '24
This is what it looks like. You can also find it on Aliexpress for a fraction of that price searching for terms like "psvr2 comfort".
