PlayStation Germany, Switzerland and Austria are running an Advent Calendar 2024 competition where users in those countries can earn credits and win prizes - more info here.

Well, thank God they look generic and AI, so we're not missing much here. I'd rather just go to the PlayStation 3 store and buy some old gems. At least those avatars had souls, and there isn't even an avatar store on the PlayStation 5, wack.

It's nice how you can get on a PS3 or PS4, and set your avatar to any other one you want, then it appears across your PSN account profile, including PS5. That's about the only way you can get another avatar, other than the PS branded avatars on the PS5. I wish they could bring back wallpapers and avatars on the PS store, but it seems like they are done with that. Closest we got for wallpapers are the new ones they added on the welcome screen, but that's barely a wallpaper. That's why I liked the PS3 & PS4 U.I. customization features. There were a lot of cool custom themes. It's a shame we can't get that level of personality and customization on the PS5. Maybe, on the PS6?? Or, maybe there will be even less customization features on that.

I have account set in Ireland, am currently in Poland, and system is set to English (UK), and it was initially in Polish, but after I logged in it changed to German.
I guess for some reason it's in all languages except English?

I guess people assume any criticism of AI is backwards thinking. Look, I have a GPT subscription, it's incredibly useful for my work and personal life. But I don't want AI to be making art that I purchase. It's one thing to use my GPT subscription to make, say, a portrait of a DnD character, because 1. I'm not selling that to anyone and 2. I don't have money to buy it from an artist. But Sony has more than enough money to buy good artwork from real artists. No matter how realistic AI images become, it will not change the fact that there is no human behind it, and that makes it less interesting to me. Sure, you can use it for posters on walls for video game scenery for example, but not for the game artwork for example.

Can be redeemed on an alt account if in the US. But they will not show on your main account, unlike games.
Created a German PS account to get Knack 2 free years ago, and have access on my main, not so for the avatars

I mean, I wish I could just put my cosplay in the avatar, but if they let you upload your pictures, people will start putting swastikas and dicks there, which says a lot about the toxicity of the gaming community.

On Xbox you actually can use your own custom pfp and it even appears in game too unlike PS where your custom pfp is only for the profile itself as in the game you will still be with an avatar. Never encountered such issues though, but did find a bunch of memes aha, also if you post anything lewd or offensive like such symbols you mention, it gets detected automatically in most cases and either removes it or bans the player with it, atleast on Xbox it works like that ofc.

this event is a giant waste of time if you actually read the rules lmao, the daily rewards winners arent randomly picked from participating tickets - they go to people that bought highest amount of tickets, now add the fact that there are multiple exploits to abuse to inflate your points and if you intended to participate legitimately you have no chance of winning anything, the exploits are getting patched but every time something else appears, abusers get their rewards (in some cases multiple which shouldnt happen based on the rules) even though they claim that there are "checks" to verify legitimacy of participants, cant believe i actually wasted my time doing those daily things believing there was even a tiny chance of winning something
