I think I do not like this mechanic.

If you get a dupe legend, you were let down by seeing all golds, get your hopes up seeing the animation, then get disappointed again by it being a dupe.

If you get a new legend, you were disappointed seeing all the golds, which really undercuts the excitement of the change to red. It feels far better to never get that disappointment by just seeing it be red in the first place. That is already the excitement, why trick me about it in the first place?

But that's just my opinion. I guess people disagree with me.

I’m confused. If it’s a dupe, regardless how it is presented to you (red or fake gold>red), you will get that disappointment anyway.

It's worse with the gold>red because you are let down by seeing all golds in the first place with no reds. Your hopes are dashed by the golds, then dashed again when you find out its actually a dupe red.

If it's just a red pull, then you only get crushed once.

It also has the effect of getting hopes up more than normal when seeing golds, because you think they may turn into reds, when that just isn't usually the case. You're almost always disappointed by it. I know this sounds dramatic, but it just seems like a dumb change and I personally don't enjoy it at all.

I'd rather just have it be straightforward. I don't want it toying with me as to whether or not I got a red, it just feels manipulative and needlessly cruel.

On the other hand, if you get gold>red new legend, you get twice the excitement.

Basically, there’re two sides of the coin, depending on how you look at it. If you look at a half glass of milk, is it half empty or half full?

I don't see double excitement. Gold>red new legend is the same as just red new legend, only you were tricked into thinking you didn't get one first.

I just don't see how this mechanic is of any benefit to the player. At its absolute best, it's the same as the normal way with a bit more emotional manipulation thrown on it.

Using your logic, we should just skip the animation entirely and go directly to the box to see all 10 posters at the same time.

Well yea, it’s emotional manipulation, but ain’t that a part of the pulling? Ain’t that part of the thrill you seek in gatcha game in general?

Making it more of an emotional rollercoaster is not a good thing. Gachas are exploitative as hell, and this is another layer of manipulation. It just is simply not good for the player.

I mean, yeah, I'd prefer if there were no animations. I'd prefer if there was no gacha machine at all. I am not seeking the thrill. The difference is those are existing mechanics, this one is new. I'm displeased with the recent change, it's unnecessary and bad.

This is how I view it. You're looking for something different, I guess.

I understand that it is your opinion and entitle to it, but there’re points that i disagree.

Saying the red poster is an existing mechanic and acceptable is very deceptive. In this context, it is an existing feature, but back then when it was released, it was a NEW feature. Would you have disliked it as well?

Then, optc IS a GATCHA game, and if you don’t like the gatcha aspect, you are playing the wrong game. And yea, it is exploitative as hell, but once you agree to play it, you essentially allow them to exploit it anyway.
