No way the marines are surviving as an organization for much longer.

I expect a large portion of lower ranking Marines to join Dragon and the revolutionary Army soon.

u/Knight_Cotton May 23 '24

I can see Garp and Fujitora defecting

252

u/Jail_Chris_Brown Pirate King Buggy May 23 '24

Well about Garp... but nah, he would never join his son. He'd rather do the whole revolution by himself.

u/Kaaduu May 23 '24

He would be like "go job looking east for 20 years, now let me handle it"

18

u/Encoreyo22 May 23 '24

We don't know basically anything about their relationship. Definitely a world where he joins Dragon.

13

u/Hairy_Acanthisitta25 May 23 '24

he wont join, but he would help

considering he already hate the celestial dragon and is a D.

u/BustANupp Thriller Bark Victim's Association May 23 '24

Garp probably isn’t going to be very involved. Smoker is the younger version of Garp (in regards to how he treats his position, not strength) and more likely to fill that role imo. Smoker, Fujitora would then pull their respective ships crews (Tashigi, maybe Hina follows suit too) and adds to Swords numbers. You can’t swing too many navy or you have to introduce new characters pretty late in the game.

u/EnadZT May 23 '24

If Garp didn't defect after God Valley, he's not defecting after learning the WG raised the sea level.

14

u/jaytix1 May 23 '24

Fujitora was probably waiting for a reason to defect lmao.

8

u/RookJameson May 23 '24

Do we know what happened to Garp after he fought Blackbeard?

6

u/sjasogun May 23 '24

I'm confused by the reactions as well, yeah. Even if he's not dead, which I do think since it's not quite like Oda to kill a major character like this so unceremoniously, he's clearly not in a position to be defecting. At best he's Blackbeard's captive right now.

8

u/Kuro013 May 23 '24

For some reason I think Garp knows about this. Roger could've told him.

6

u/Azramy May 23 '24

I can see Garp being neither of them but a third, secret thing (a militia)

1

u/tokyogodfather2 May 26 '24

Isn’t that what SWORD already is?

6

u/Hashbrown4 May 23 '24

Have we gotten a fujitora reaction? He’s gotta be fuming

10

u/Kay-Chelle Jinbe The Knight of the Sea May 23 '24

I believe last we saw him he was fighting the revolutionaries at Marie Jois with Greenbull and was ready to nuke the whole thing before Greenbull called him out 💀

3

u/sack_of_potahtoes The Revolutionary Army May 23 '24

I think akainu will defect and start a nee organization

2

u/Rankine May 24 '24

Garp is a little busy.

5

u/Sega_Saturn_Shiro May 24 '24

I expect a lot of the marines to switch sides right now, and help Luffy beat the Gorosei perhaps.

Kizaru steps in and some follow suit?

2

u/tepeyate May 23 '24

You’re forgetting that they don’t have to, the World Government and the Marines are separate entities, they could simply stop obeying their orders while remaining their own entity

2

u/Strawhat-Lupus May 23 '24

Yes but not the entire marine force will just up and quit. Some may stay loyal like Akainu and force anyone staying in the Marines that won't listen to listen. Or just kill them for being a traitor. Revolutionary army would line up with their goals and give their family protection by helping them flee their doomed country

1

u/cbagainststupidity May 25 '24

Akainu is the most likely guy to turn against the CD and go scorched earth on everybody, making the Marines their own faction in the coming battle for supremacy.

1

u/MariJoyBoy May 24 '24

I've always thought they would split in two, guys like Kobby or Smoker can't remain antagonists for the whole saga

44

u/Odd-Tonight4907 May 23 '24

“Are we the baddies?”

16

u/nam24 May 23 '24

Literally that

"Isn't that us?"

15

u/Numbuh24insane May 23 '24

No, I fully believe that the Marines will still exist by the end of the series. The leadership will be changed for the most part, but the marines won’t disband.

5

u/TheRisenThunderbird May 23 '24

Koby will become leader of the Marines and reform them as an independent do-good organization

1

u/Numbuh24insane May 23 '24

I think there still will be a world government, only acting as it was sold to the world rather than how it currently is.

0

u/TheRisenThunderbird May 23 '24

Lol absolutely zero shot the WG isn't disbanded

1

u/Numbuh24insane May 23 '24

Major disagree.

In fact, the Revolutionaries problems are the celestial dragons and those at the tippity top. They don't have nearly as much of a problem with the World Government and the Marines as a whole.

I think a coalition of all these islands coming together with no true leader and meeting for Reverie to make decisions is a good thing for the world, along with the Marines helping enforce order and protect people is good.

That is what will stay.

The World Government and the Marines, but the celestial dragons, Imu, Gorosei, Akainu, Greenbull will be removed.

2

u/TheRisenThunderbird May 23 '24

The celestial dragons and the gorosei ARE the world government. The leaders of individual nations don't have any actual power. What you're describing isn't a different version of the WG, it's just the UN

1

u/Numbuh24insane May 23 '24

Except, they do as seen in Reverie where they voted to get rid of the Warlord System.

The idea of the World Government, and the World Government in name will stay around in the end of series. I am positive of that, and the Revolutionaries talking about the celestial dragons in particular only adds fuel for that thought.

1

u/TheRisenThunderbird May 23 '24

Hahaha imagine if Star Wars ended with the Rebels going "ok we've killed the sith lords, now the empire can keep ruling the galaxy, but pinky promise not to be evil this time"

1

u/Numbuh24insane May 23 '24

What I'm describing is literally the current goal of the Revolutionary Dragons. It's also what the general citizen thinks the World Government operates like, aside from the CD's getting to do whatever they want.

12

u/stillj0n May 23 '24

I think they'll split into two factions:

One supporting the starus quo

One against the world govt., but not joining the revs.

The final war might be a 4 way battle bewteen government, revs, new marines and pirates

2

u/RainyEuphoria Scholars of Ohara May 24 '24

and blackbeard

10

u/jaytix1 May 23 '24

Smoker begrudgingly joining Luffy will be a sight lol. I wouldn't be surprised if he knocks out any pirates that are TOO excited to kill marines.

3

u/nerodidntdoit Void Month Survivor May 23 '24

You will be surprised by the level of deniability that people can attach themselves to. Half of the world is already laughing at vegapunk's words.

Akainu goes live, and the world that the menace straw hat luffy kidnapped and forced Vegapunk to record this video before viciously murdering him.

3

u/SupervillainMustache May 23 '24

Who will be the World Government's main fighting force. I don't think God's Knights have enough members to compete with Marines.

1

u/Noveno_Colono May 23 '24

No one. The collapse of the marines is the start of the collapse of the World Government. This is the final saga.

2

u/SupervillainMustache May 23 '24

I'm talking about who the main fighting force opposing the Straw Hat Fleet.

3

u/k0fi96 May 23 '24

Ehh most seem the not buy it, it all depends on if the higher ups buy it. The Grunts will fall in line

3

u/Djonso May 23 '24

There absolutely will be high ranking marines demanding answers. Perhaps even admiral or two

2

u/Any-Competition8494 May 23 '24

I can see half of them go to Sword, while half of them might stay with WG.

2

u/goody153 May 24 '24

They will definitely splinter for sure

1

u/zezq May 24 '24

just because the message reach their ear doesnt mean they will believe in it. can you imagine this happen in real life suddenly, would you even believe such a tale from one man.

1

u/foXiobv Void Month Survivor May 24 '24

The marine will 100% survive. Remember cobys dream is it to become an admiral. He will lead the marine in a positive way.

A marine force that is keeping peace in the seas isn't evil at all, they will probably just change names.

1

u/God_Usoland May 28 '24

This would have been the perfect time for Z to stage his Neo-Marines Rebellion
