They also trained for 100 years after getting those bounties, so most likely are a lot stronger than back then.

They really were only sneak attacked back then and we csn discount them not using observation Haki on a combo of underestimating any threats and it not being a thing back then.

Their combined attack was already shown to be somewhere around Emperor level and insane back then

I reread Little Garden recently. I don't knowthe size of the Merry but it was tiny compared to the hole through the island eater

I'm pretty sure that combined attack was meant to be a preview of what Haki looked like, before Oda changed his mind about how Haki worked.

There are suspicious similarities between the pre-Haki-reveal ultimate techniques of Lucci, Dorry, Broggy, and Zoro.

The most similar one is the Kaido + Big Mom combined attack. Unless we find out a combo move from Roger and Garp, those two are the most powerful attacks in One Piece so far

Can you explain this further? I don't quite see the similarities.

All three attacks are based on some kind of invisible destructive energy that selectively destroys things.

Zoro's whole revelation while fighting Mr. 1 was about how a truly great swordsman can decide whether his blade cuts something. He then struck a leaf without cutting it, split a boulder with a touch, and somehow cut through a steel man with a steel blade.

We saw the same selectiveness earlier, when Dorry and Broggy's ultimate attack killed a sea monster from way out of weapon range and hit the Merry dead on without so much as scratching the ship or its passengers.

Lucci's technique is even more blatantly "magic", since he actually doesn't move while using it. He holds his hands out, and a blast wave rather similar to Dorry and Broggy's emerges. It bypasses Devil Fruit protections and seems to tear Luffy apart from the inside.

Mihawk's ship-cutting, incidentally, might also have been meant as a preview. Doesn't actually make physical sense if you think about it.

It all seems to be based on the same underlying power.

I think you're 100% right. Oda definitely was planning on having an additional power system, and he almost certainly was non commitally playing with different ideas for it at different parts of the story. It really wasn't even until post time skip that Haki and what it was were even remotely standardized in Odas head.

So like you mentioned those ideas seem to be different riffs on his idea of the yet to be standardized power system.
