the only reason both got smoked by baroque works was by a surprise attack

one broggy alone would no diff the entire baroque

Nah, they got smoked because serious Mr.3 was simply too strong. It’s their bad luck that they had provoked the future 1st commander of Buggy D. Clown himself.

To be fair, Mr 3 is dangerous and the Little Garden arc showed us how. When he's calculated, his power can do wonders and horrors.

Mr. 3's moment in Marineford is legit my favorite scene in the whole Marineford arc. I just love that Oda showed us that Mr. 3 actually respected Bon-chan that much.

Mr. 3 is a good example of one of my favorite things in One Piece which is how physically weaker characters contribute and can even be extremely dangerous in battle.

Mr. 3 never confronted the Giants directly. He strategically let them tire themselves out, then he jumped Broggy when he was too tired and shaken after beating his friend.

There are a few convenient excuses to allow them to still have a relevant power level in the current story. On Little Garden, they were also battling each other constantly. I think it was their second fight of the day when baroque attacked. Some level of fatigue should be there. It would also be fair to think that the winner of the fight was in a mentally distressed condition similar to when the Straw Hats got beaten up by CP9. By the time real resolve to fight was reestablished Luffy had already showed up.

Of course, all of this is just coping with Shonen power creep silliness. I don’t care. I wanna see big giants smash little ships. This is going to be a lot of fun….until the Marine big guns (admiral level powers or more Saturn shenanigans) come out of course.
