This may just be me.
But kuma feels like such a great allegory for depression.
How he feels as though he is only a burden on others despite his selflessness and all the good deeds he has done for others. He is the only person to not see the beauty within his soul - thinking so lowly of himself always.
Just how happy he was to sacrifice himself for others and how willing he was to die. Not even a D, yet he dies with a smile on his face.
From his birth, he was made to believe he can only cause suffering and that's ingrained in him - just as a traumatic childhood would do to a person.
